Guys, for those of you who know me I can enjoy a laugh and joke as much as the rest. There is a time and place for it.
Whilst on here I am a member enjoying his Z and also a Committee Member putting something back into the Club. I also have a responsibility as a Moderator.
We recently had a specific problem with some people using offensive language, some of the words used I would not use in front of my wife, kids etc and so one of our Committe sorted it so that the Forum identifies specific words and 'blanks' them. . This way it keeps the Forum respectable and also individual Moderators cannot be accused of being 'stuffy'.
Steve (K) and Rob (H) when you produced the magazine would you have allowed the language we have had on here?
Certain people now think it's funny to get round the system to post 'moderated' words. I find this childish.
This is a thread about gear shifters, but as usual 'digs' have been made at the Committee (because swear words can't be used
) and now the usual culprits are joining in. We are getting a bit sick of this.
And please don't string this Thread out with 'you said this' and 'I said this' etc. Let's have a technical discussion about gear shifters.

My input - unless fractions of a second are absolutely essential e.g. Drag competition just change gear at the speed the box is designed for. If you need a super-quick box then buy one. It's quite satisfying getting a change right with an old box.
I have damaged a few boxes by trying to 'snatch' gears and ultimately catching reverse. At the Gold Cup last year I spoke to a 240Z owner who is a highly respected international race driver of many many years. When talking about Z boxes and S14 mods etc he smiled and said to me 'just relax and change gear slower'. Later that day he drove a very impressive race in a mini.
