Rota Grid's

Just got a set of Rota Grid's in 16x8's and I'm haveing a few problems fitting the fronts. I see a few people on here have them but haven't heard anyone mention they dont fit with standard hubs. Basically the hole in the wheel is too small to go over the hub. It goes most of the way but stops around 3mm from the face. It looks like I'll have to have them machined to fit. Anyone else found this?

I had problems with mine too and had to fit a 3mm spacer on the front, although a later replacement rota had a bigger centre hole.

Your problem is common with most aftermarket wheels not originally designed with the S30 in mind. The hub bells are huge on a 240Z/260Z and cause seating problems. Shim spacer, say 3mm, or machine the wheels if enough meat to do so safely.

never noticed with my wheels but i put 3 or 5 mm spacers on anyway to stop the tyre catching the spring seat but will not be a problem on your car as it is UK spec

I would have thought you'd be better off using a spacer rather than machining the wheel to fit and possibly compromising its integrity.

John never had a problem with them on my car, but I only drove the car 100 miles on them. DJ did supply me with 10mm spacers but I never used them, will need to use them with the enkies though for the wheels to clear the brakes.

No probs Gwyn. I've put some 3mm spacers on the front and they are fine now. From the posts above it a common problem and the easy fix is the spacers.

Front hub bell is near enough 3" diameter at the base and 2.5" tall.
Rear is flat and shouldn't cause problems...

A 73mm hole is going to be really close - I think I measured a 280ZX at 70mm, but a 240Z at 76mm! it is the last step outwards that causes the problem. The wheel may need a shallow recess machined to take it out to 76mm...

Or use spacers on the front. I've used 3mm but I think thats only just getting away with it. I'd recommend 5mm and may change mine.

Thanks folks, im getting a set of wheels machined wasn't sure what size was best to go for.
Might go 73 and use spacers on the front
