I Iike the A6024 going up between Glossop & Holmfirth hopefully when no cars get in the way (luckily the sheep stay out of the way)& it's local, I also like it at night with the reflective posts at both sides lit up.Any without a speed camera, sleeping policeman, man-made chicanes etc etc, they really wind me up. I don't need to be told how fast to drive I use my training, judgment, experience and general responsible attitude.
Rant over, good thread - the Peak District is fantastic, many roads are sweeping, undulating and open (see through the bends). The road from the Cat and Fiddle pub to Macclesfield used to be a favourite.
According to Motor Cycle News the Cat & fiddle road and the
A5012 from Cromford to Ivonbrook Quarry,
A612 from Baslow to Owler Bar,
A57 Snake Pass from Glossop,
B5035 from Ashbourne to Wicksworth,
A515 Ashbourne to Alsop-en-le-Dale,
A6 Matlock Bath,
A5004 Buxton to Fernilee,
are going to have average speed cameras put up facing rearwards to keep a check on bikes, what's to stop them checking cars as well.
