Reproduction Body Panels

Guys, from another Thread it has been highlighted that the supply of new/secondhand RHD scuttle panels is drying up.

As discussed above there is a company near me who make body sections. When I discussed this on here it was surprising how many panels are being made around the world (it surprised me anyway).

Are RHD scuttle panels unavailable new?

If so I could ask 'my guy' about the possibility of making them. I would need a patter and I'm reluctant to take one of mine off. Liam perhaps your damaged one might be useable as a pattern when repaired? I may even be able to get it 'worked on' as part of the project???

I have a perfect RHD scuttle panel if you need one as a pattern to use Rob

Anyone performing an LHD to RHD conversion will - usually - have the original LHD panel to hand. It is perfectly feasible to weld up the original wiper spindle holes and form RHD-specific ones in the correct position. I've seen it done quite often, and if done right it is pretty much undetectable.

The original panel has all sorts of double curvature to it, as well as those punched vents, and I'd take an educated guess that it is difficult to produce a good replica and will be expensive.

Isn't it just easier to source reasonable LHD examples and convert them to suit?

I did think of that, especially as there is more complicated fabrication needed during the conversion.

So how much is cheap enough guys? Straight off the top of my head I'm guessing these would be worth £300 to somebody. I have no reason to ask apart from interest.
