Replacement US style Front Indicators?

Hi All,

I'm refreshing the front end of my 240z and giving it some TLC while the weather is still rather crap.

While taking off my front indicators one bolt gave me a serious fight due to corrosion and snapped after a long battle, it's also obvious that they've suffered a fair bit of decay during their 50 year odd life span. Honestly it looks like they're beyond saving and it seems clear that they're now in need of replacement.

I was therefore wondering what others have done given that NOS items are silly money? I've seen that MSA are selling repro versions at $280 but was unsure of their quality and was curious to hear any opinions before throwing serious money at them. Any input would therefore be grateful received?

Wherever you get them from, unless they already are, replace the little screws holding the lense on with stainless ones, every single used light I've ever seen has corroded screws, which not only become a pain to remove but can swell with rust and split the plastic!

I'm really interested in the outcome of this. I have a FRP front Devil style spoiler on the way and will need to fit this to the car at some point in the next couple of weeks. I will need to remove & refit the front corner turn lights and I seem to recall I had to do a repair on them a few years back when I had a respray. I can bet that they will give me issues again so I will probably need some new ones. Those from Tokyo seem good value given that there appears to be no shipping costs. I do like the look of clear lenses on a white car.

Agreed.

That's really good sound advice, thank you!

Thank you all for the input, looking at the options the Blem units sound like a winner (thanks for sharing Mark). I can get a pair shipped to my uncle for $169 and then have then posted over for sensible money. I've got the Blem rear lights on my car and they certainly had no blemishes or issues as Jason said, and my looms look fine.

I'll also be staying orange with an orange car, I can appreciate the clear ones on other cars though.

Thanks for the offer but both sides are showing their age, the right one more so. I think the honest thing to do is just replace both with new assemblies and put stainless screws in as Anthony suggested. Then I can forget about it for a long time.

Read the bottom of the full description.

- Any additional charges such as customs duties are to be bored by the customer!

Yes...but any import to the UK unless from Ireland (?) is likely to bear customs charges......et customs aren't shipping charges !

Thought I'd just update this to say that I did go with the Blem repro items in the end and had them shipped to my Uncle in the states with a few other items for convenience.

They worked out at about £185 and as usual with Blem items them appear pretty immaculate. Being critical you can see the tab where the lens has been broken out of the mould (same as originals), there looks to be some slight cracking around the screw threads but that seems a bit inevitable. The profile is slightly different and the shade of orange is deeper however this could just be that my units are that faded!

Anyway, I'm very pleased with them and they look a damn sight better then the knackered units that I've removed. I'm, also taking Antonys suggestion and putting stainless screws in to protect them going forward (M3 for anyone else who it may help). Fingers crossed they'll be on the car very soon as I get it back on the road.
