If I had to honestly choose a car for £12K like you did, with your criteria, I would be hard pushed to beat the value and quality of the VS but I just don't like it's looks. I would possibly look at a Ford Galaxy / VW Sharan/ Seat Alhambra thingy .......
possibly a big old german autobahn cruiser ...... Omega...... something like that.
I looked at 'em all, the Opel/Vauxhall is too sad inside - the plastic depresses me. Remember, it was an estate I was looking for, and if you're gonna have an estate, have a big one - the Opel, Volvo V70, Merc E, Citroen C5.....but none of them have sufficient space at the rear for...child seats (hence the legroom and width required) !
No way were we going for a people carrier - there are so many carparks where you can't get in with low ceilings and barriers to stop the new age travellers and they all seem to handle like converted vans !
As for your mates, tell 'em Audi cruised home last year at Le Mans and it's between Peugeot and Audi (no guesses who'll win) this year.....on diesel !
Should you decide to visit us for Le Mans, you could tickle my mistresses' fancy........! There aint no BMs racing anymore though
