Personally, I'd be happy with an L-series stroker on board (although I'm sure nearly 500hp at the rear wheels can be "fun"), but the car has a great look. Black seems to suit the Kenmeris IMO, thinking of this car and Rocky Auto's NA RB30 one.

Nice that he's not done the obvious (re-badged and re-trimmed it as a KPGC110 Skyline GT-R lookalike) and kept it badged as a Datsun 240K GT.

Yes a good looking car (most aspects ;) ).

Rich, I know you are on the lookout for a project, it's obvious to me that you need to find a Saloon/Coupe not an S30. You just love them so much - why duplicate when you can diversify?

Because Hakosukas and Kenmeris (even at project car level) are much more expensive than a Z project car would be. I'm not sure my patience can hold out long enough to save the required cash to go for one of those!

The one car that realistically would however stop me doing another Z is a Celica Liftback - either RA28, or JDM RA25 or TA27 versions. There was a JDM RA28 at Japfest. The owner had only had it delivered from Japan a couple of weeks ago. Jealous.

They are very, very rare though in the UK. I missed out on a JDM TA35 (converted to RA28 2000GT spec) last year which I'm sure I would've bought - unfortunately it was in Wiltshire so the earliest I could get to see it was the weekend and it sold on the Thurs before. :(

There's one on eBay at the moment, but it is a basket case - would probably snap in half moving it! :D

I'd have been hapy with half that power.....and maybe tried to make it more period looking under the bonnet but one heck of a project realised - hats off !

Pick yourself up an old Datsun - Celicas are too expensive now for projects.

What era are you looking for - must it be early '70s ?

Ok, I'm going to make you really jealous now.

One of our members (whose doesn't get on the Forum) has restored two cars and Wow they are sensational.

Fantastic. The TA22 Celica looks cool (I prefer the Liftback still) but the Z looks amazing. I could do that to mine - just need to chop the arches...

Sean - the Celicas do come up once in a blue moon at project prices. There was a barn find RA28 a year or two back for 4750 in Cheshire, and the Wiltshire one was a rust free complete car for 5.5k. It's only issue was it needed a new head gasket (it hadn't completely blown but compression was in the toilet).

A Z is still most likely though. I need something to let the ideas in my head escape onto and to home that 3.1 stroker!... ;)

The days of finding cheap and affordable C110's are gone. The sedan has a huge following in The Middle East and so these get snapped up fast and in recent years has uplifted asking prices. The hardtop is a rarity in Europe and US and with the popularity increasing of old school J- tin more and more folk want to build a GTR replica. So a hardtop now commands premium.

Same applies to C130 models.

The only Celicas are TA22/3s - the rest are wannabes.!

Yeah right...so what would you classify a RA28 then.

£5k for a project....I would find you an old-school Datsun for 1/10th of that - do a swap and wehay !

So do tell us Mr President where this stash of 2 Dr hardtop Datsuns selling for £500 has been hidden away :smash:

And please don't insult us by showing pictures of a cherry or 100A...even they command over a grand nowadays

I would class a TA28 as a wannabe Mustang - the TAs have a shape all of their own - a 'real' Celica.:p I regret selling my TA23 when I moved to Holland, I should have sold the green/silver Z instead.

I have two spare S110s - I'd let one go to a friend for £500, L18EFi, dogleg 5spd box standard and you know the rest that can be done to improve if desired.

You think the TA22/23 isn't a wannabe Mustang?? Take a look at the Shelby GT500's...

I think all of that series of Celica's look super cool - to me they're like manageable sized muscle cars :p wouldn't be able to keep one stock though.. Lol

Using your logic, I guess the S30 is a wannabe E type ? or does it have a shape of its own and is the real thing ?:p

You are comparing a boxy early 80's Nissan design to the early 70's shape of the TA22/23 celica ?...oh dear. Surely when you make reference, keep it period correct and not a decade later:smash:

Still waiting to see these £500 Datsuns that are a direct alternative to the early Celica. Got cash waiting ....

THAT is only with the factory rear spoiler added - look at them in profil and the Celica is way different !

What is YOUR beef with me Preet - everything I've put up, you've found contentious - it's getting tiring - please stop or at least calm down.
I know of two ex E-Type owners now running Zs.....who wannabe what ?

The three advantages for an S110 compared to an RA28 are that :

a) they are rare (especially in the UK)
b) they keep 'it' in the familiy
c) they're cheaper...as a project car

The RA28 was replaced in 1978/9 and the S110 arrived in 1979 - not a million miles away date-wise.

Nothing contentious my friend. I was simply trying to work out where these £500 Datsuns were stashed away...but I note your observations and case closed ;)

Perfect base for a 240RS replica. So who's up for it ?

Ok matey - not £500 but not far off : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/-Datsun-Cherry-120A-Coupe-Erstzulassung-1975-/191580314338

Since the S110s I have are hatchbacks, I'd have thought that a Super Silhouette replica would be more apt !

Don't be confused (like most) by 'S12' and the front, it's based upon the S110 :
