RB 240z Conversion

Dave,
Did it on my Cherry Turbo cam cover. Will try to find the can, i think I got it from Frosts in Rochdale.

I got mine from Frosts too it's manufactured by a company called VHT, easy to do and results were impressive. It's not that durable though, doesnt peel but does chip if you accidently catch it with something. Powdercoating will be more durable.

Spent a bit more time with 1200 wet & dry and it is coming out better than i thought leaning towards getting it all polished !!!!!.

But tomorrow another day.

The only way to make the new inlet manifold fit better is to cut off the original throttle body flange then cut out a slice from the inlet so it moves the throttle body away from the inner wing.

Sounds easy went ok apart from also taking away some of my skin from my finger with the angle grinder.

So have fitted up the intercooler at the front looks like it might just all line up the pipe work should be here early doors this week.

Inet manifold flange has been re-welded in the new position and test fitted again with the intercooler in place, i have both the inlet & exhaust pipework coming out from the air intake holes in the rad support panel.(could have cut some more holes but it would have made me cry as the engine bay has just been painted)

Refitted the bonnet just to be sure that its not going to catch and having to crawl under the car with a torch to check on the clearance IT ALL FITS :).

Made up a new throttle linkage bracket yesterday using a part that i had made for the old L28 engine set up, you might see 3 on Mr Parkers car !!!! and also cut off the skyline throttle bracket that sits on the side to give the intake a cleaner look.

I have swoped over a few bits from the original skyline part just have to remember how it all fit.

Must have had the intake on and off the car 8 times checking that it all works ok.

Looking great.

Does pic 2 show a solenoid to control cold start idle? Are all the take offs underneath the intake manifold?

Wow Dave, I'm speechless, haven't followed the thread lately and your engine bay/engine looks immense. Just make me jealous all the time, any chance of some qualiy high res pics for desktop wallpapers?? :D

Well done, awesome

for next time dave you could use blue tack, just roll into little sticks and put them on all the high points .close the bonnet and then when you lift it check to see if they have deformed plus it will show how clearance you have.;)

Spent some time taken pictures of Andy Shaws RB powered 240z yesterday so i can start plumbing bits back onto my engine as have 3 boxes of parts to fit.

Also have swopped some spare parts that i had upgraded and ended up with a new Accusump kit, just have to find some room to fit it.
