Some seriously nice hardware in that collection Rob!!!
Great photo of your son descending.
You know, in 2010 I was supporting my wife on her UK half Ironman and watched as people were racking bikes easily worth £10k-£15k (utter carbon porn) and so much wearable electronics / monitors / power meters everywhere.
Then along comes a guy with a nail of a Peugeot from c. 1985 with down tube shifters (non- indexed), zero aero, a 6 cog rear cassette and non compact chain rings. Probably weighed more than 3 carbon bikes put together. Zero electronics on him.
1200+ competitors went in the water, around 80 professionals at the front of the pack and he came in with the top 100 riders, finishing in the top 120!!!!! Just shows it's not all about the kit. But somehow we just can't help ourselves
