Some seriously nice hardware in that collection Rob!!!

Great photo of your son descending.

You know, in 2010 I was supporting my wife on her UK half Ironman and watched as people were racking bikes easily worth £10k-£15k (utter carbon porn) and so much wearable electronics / monitors / power meters everywhere.

Then along comes a guy with a nail of a Peugeot from c. 1985 with down tube shifters (non- indexed), zero aero, a 6 cog rear cassette and non compact chain rings. Probably weighed more than 3 carbon bikes put together. Zero electronics on him.

1200+ competitors went in the water, around 80 professionals at the front of the pack and he came in with the top 100 riders, finishing in the top 120!!!!! Just shows it's not all about the kit. But somehow we just can't help ourselves ;)

Another cyclist here.
Been mountain biking since late 80s, but had and have n+1 bikes at all times.

Loving the classic bikes, busy waiting for my FiL to give me his flying scot which hasn't turned a wheel for 30 years.

Mixed bag, races MTBs in the 90s, my group of riding pals all ex local racers, and most are car nerds also. With an equally as bananas mix of cars!

Most interesting is probably my rigid bamboo fat bike I build in 2014, rides miles better than I expected, so raced in the Scottish enduro series on it. Best result was 17th out of a field of 50 in the masters against opposition of full suspension bikes.

Did a few 100 mile races on the road bike, never got into rod bike until recently, but with the rods where I live it's quite epic. Etape royale is run by a mate of mine, so it's become an annual effort.

Current fleet
Canyon Strive race CF
Specialised Allez road hack
Bamboo fat bike
Van Nicolas ti hardtail
Standard BMX vintage
Orange p7
Rock lobster 1991 vintage MTB
