You know I have an extra unused crank pulley on the 260 that I think was intended for aircon in other markets ... You've just given me an idea! ;)

On an 'enginey' thread, whats been done with a stock 240 engine, well stock bore type thing? I'm hoping to win the medal for most drawn out build with medicore bhp :)

Come on boys nock it on the head or go find a playground somewhere. Your both realy nice guys and this totally unbecoming of you.

I think your missing something

Out of respect to the tread starter I will not enter into any further debate outside of the OS Giken setup

As such I'm not interested in a ******* competition, I have absolutely no need as my results speak for themselves...... QED

Ian I don’t know what’s happened in your life to make you so feel so inadequate but this forum just isn’t the place to get cathartic release, and sorry I just don’t have the time to help you either.
:lol: Oh, so, so, so far off the mark me ol' chap..

"my engine is better than yours"

Never been the point, its about praising all, not knocking others

over Ians 254BHP.

Err, somewhat short I am afraid PMAC, higher, Brucey, higher!. For its rather modest spec, it, shall, we say, certainly, certainly, holds it own;), but hey, some don't want to hear that....

...the whole thing is boring

I agree, thought I had finished with dealing with cheap shots....

More regurgitated rhetoric from yet another internet engineer

Put together a constructive argument Ian and not just a rant puntuated with a few childish remarks and I debate it all day, until then I think you need to stable the horse and put Napoleans uniform away

hey guys what about the pair of you coming along to Jap show at the the pod or a run what you brung at North Weald and let each other drive each others cars so you both can admire the amount of work and time you have put into your cars and appreciate the different route that each of you have gone over the last few years

No mud fight from me Paul, its like shooting fish in a barrel, I like a bit more of a challenge.
On one side we have well founded, robust engineering practice and science, backed up by pages and pages of data from reputed dyno readings and the good ole 1/4 mile, built and driven by an engineer and tuned by one of the best and most respected in the UK, plus a hall of fame record thats over half a second faster than its closest rival.

On the other hand we have.................

Just wish the moderators would do something about.

Why? So long as it doesn't get personal I think there is valuable content in the thread. I don't personally know either gents so being neutral I am keen to read the respective engineering feats.

One thing that has often bugged me is the measure go HP...I understand that there are so many variables when measuring HP on the Dyno and no single universally accepted measure.

On my www travels I find the HP quoted by Aussies to be quite tangible and representative of the tuning and engineering work done, yet some of the US stuff seems on the high side:confused:....and before you start flaming me, this is based on the 4 cylinder L series engines and not the 6.:smash:

as long as Im on the forum I will fire off cheap shots from time to time as I have done since the forum was born.;)
Dale was my latest target and it got (the expected) reaction.!!!
Quite complimentary really... he said I was some kind of retired tabloid journalist..

However in your case Ian I wasnt having a pop at you. In fact as to you.are contributor of one of the most iconic components on my historic rally car build Im eternally grateful
I will however always act on an opportunity to question the quoted power of any of Mr Rebellos engines.
My query/issue is with him and not you.
Looking back at the thread you have on the build/buy/ship process he quoted a figure of 309.7 BHP at 6400 and a torque figure of 283ftlbs at 5000 revs.
Given the relatively modest compression ratio of under 10:1 that power is not achievable on a single cam non crossflow engine.
I dont particularly need or want to know what your engine makes here in the UK. Its your engine and if you are happy with it then fine.

My point is that it didnt make the claimed power he quoted and he gets away with it.
And im not the only one to say so either......

Paul builds GREAT cylinder heads, my only real competition, hehe. But I would not trust the REBELLO HORSE POWER, as we all know rebellow hp, is not real hp. There have been a couple guys that have gotten motors built there, dynoed over 300 horese on their dyno, then put the engine in there car, and it produced barely over two hundred HP. So just beware, when you take the car to a chassis dyno.

Ahem... SHP - Shetland HorsePower

And a very diplomatic comment from Mr Ruschman himself.......................................;)

I have “heard” of the West coast HP being optimistic, I’m not taking sides.

And just to be really picky......................
While your cylinder head is a nice piece of work judging by the photos posted by Paul Ruschman I would have thought that at that level he might have welded up the injection cut outs to assist mixture flow. Tig welding is simple and cheap nowadays
And here is one I prepared earlier:D

The problem is that this has nothing to do with original thread.

A minor detail that Im just going to ignore.

Tom, what was the site?
I guess those figures are as measured by Rebello themselves, given the heading on the sheet.
for all the arguments here and elsewhere about Rebello HP, I've never seen a side by side comparison of Rebello dyno sheet and a known standard one.

Agree Jon that would be ideal.

Amazing torque figure of 264.5 Ft.lbs for an Lseries?
My E46 M3 only made 270 lbs from 3.2 litres, twin cam, twin Vanos 11.5 compression

It's a shame that Rabello feel the need to fudge their figures. I don't hear reports of bad engines just over exaggeration of the numbers.
