I understand that, the fuel recovery system is all still there.

Like I have said, I'm not out to rip anyone off or mislead,I am not an expert and am happy for anyone that is in the know to come look at it and give a true ,unbiased opinon for any prospective purchasers.

Perhaps you could post detail pictures ( such as the inside of the R/H rear quarter, with the vapour tank and pipework ) on this thread? It will work better than the ebay page.

Photos - and discussions - of your VWs are not going to help you to sell the 240Z.

I think it's fairly safe to say that all of us who are participating in this thread are car fans, and like talking about them. But this thread was started in response to your efforts to sell just one particular car, and that's the one we really need to see more pictures of.

Here are some special photo requests: If possible, please take photos of the rear quarters ( inside and outside - and with the emblems off if you want to go the whole hog ), the dash ( I see a wavy line up near the screen trim - so is it a dash cap / re-cover? ), the seats ( they appear to be the correct, early, seats - but I suspect they have had new cover trim ) and the rear deck area ( sans carpet - as it would be nice to see the early 'cheesegrater' metalwork there ).

Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken the seats have been swapped over L<--->R so that would suggest they have probably been removed for re-covering.

Does it ever get used

No that's why it's for sale....took me 2-3 years to restore and I can't bring myself to use it and watch it deteriorate. That's why I love the ratty Datsuns....love hooning and not having to polish, spent my life not using cars and just keeping clean for the next owners

Somebody has asked me what my problem with this thread, the answer is , it's not what's in this thread, it's just what's not anywhere else on this forum, given the rarity of these vehicles I would of thought a discussion about another rust free example landing on these shores , but instead it just got a public dissection. This may be something to consider in the future .

Thing is, there have been so many cars with hidden horrors (I know, I bought one!) that every single one that comes up for sale is closely scrutinized to make sure things are what they appear to be, and it's the very fact these cars are so rare that this is the case.

The bad points have to be explored as well as the good, especially when you've advertised it as all original after which it's revealed that one rear quarter is different from the other!

Though it might seem people are picking it apart on here, compared to some cars out there yours has a lot going for it, the rarer early car features are a big plus.

Your defending scrutinising it , not explaining why it has not been discussed elsewhere , once again displaying the negativity of this thread

As a club every car that comes up for sale is always discussed, especially early ones.

Its good for the buyer and good for the knowledge base of the club.

As you've found out, the car's had a 3/4 panel, without the club you wouldn't have known and thought that having differing vents was normal. A few times cars have been discussed/purchased that haven't been what people thought, VIN numbers not matching chassis etc.

It should'nt be hard to make your car look right from the outside, its a nice looking car and its good to see another early one in the UK:thumbs:

And as I have said on numerous occasions . One of you come inspect it and type fact , I will pay your diesel money

should have said 'shouldn't not should!

I don't see what you'd gain from some one having a look over as you've seen what's been done? I guess it just depends on what you want to do with it now?

If you want strong money for it, it could be worth having the paint and bits done?

Not sure where else you would expect it to be discussed other than a UK based Z car club?

You could always sugar-coat your ebay ad and ignore the bad stuff, then when someone buys it and comes on here to ask why things are wrong we could have the discussion then? That way you'd have your money, we'd have our discussion and everyone wins except the guy who has bought something he thought was something else.

As has been said, you have a nice early car which has had a bit of work done (it is over 40 years old after all), maybe you are only seeing the bad and not the good?
