new on e-bay

Yep, I still like it. A bit steep price wise though.

Rob Gaskin:

I think that but what if it was an E Type jag?

OOOPS sorry franky I've edited your message instead of quoting and editing the quote!

Power crazy :)

If it was an E type it'd be less of an issue as you can buy every single component still, I dare say some of them for less cash too.

First off let me start by introducing myself,my real name is simon and I run a workshop in Guildford modifying T25 camper vans, mainly I put subaru engines in the back.

I also buy and sell classics part time to fund my hobby of old cars.

Yes Gary (atoman) this is the one steve brought in,He and I share a workshop together .

So let the questions begin, but what I would realy prefer is one of you come and inspect my car so you can type fact on here not assumption,I have nothing to hide and would like the prospective new owner to go in eyes open.

Also as to why I havent painted it,my main passion is classic porsches, but I have just run out of space and something needs to give,I have owned this for over a year,I dont want to sell ,but needs must.

Perhaps you'd like to ask him direct, PM him, or go and visit him?

As it's about a specific car, this thread deserves to stay on topic.

Can I ask - with all due respect - about the situation regarding possible accident repair?

The car, as has been noted, is wearing the round vented-type 'Z' rear pillar emblems when, as a 1970-build car it would have come with '240Z' emblems from the factory. Is it the case that one rear quarter may have been replaced with a vented-type panel, and the vented type emblems have been added to both sides? And is the vented side the RIGHT hand side - the side where the ( later, finger-slotted, sprung ) filler flap is?

Thanks.

so you are as anal as your posts ,you were very vocal in previous posts ,so fire the questions away to me ;)

You might not have realised it yet, but I was actually sticking up for your car until now.

If you equate being "anal" to knowing what you are talking about, then yes - I might well be "anal". And at this point it seems that I might know a little bit more about your car than you do....

Ive had the inside panels off this evening,it looks like it has had something on the o/s.but I cant see where it has been replaced, the pipe work and fuel vents look original .

Now that's an interesting thing to say as my Brother informs me it even makes a difference to value of an E type if you don't use the correct bolts i.e. the original manufaturer.

Sorry but you can understand my annoyance,Im open to any information on my car,the world seems to be discussing my car,but no one has come to see it

If the whole quarter was replaced some time in past, and replaced well, then you might not spot it immediately. But a vented quarter on a September 1970 production body is not factory, and will have been added some time later in the car's life. Usually this would have been an accident damage repair.

You mention the fuel pipe work and vents. As a 1970 production California state car it would have had a fuel vapour recovery system fitted to it from the factory. Is the ( Nylon ) fuel vapour recovery tank still in place in that R/H rear quarter?

Looking at the inside what evidence of the repair can you see? Looks well repaired in the pics, shame it didn't have the right panel fitted but I guess it might not have been an option at the time.

The Z Club forum is hardly 'the world'.

What you will find is that there's only a small market for these cars in the UK as yet, and there's an even smaller knowledge base for them here. Not only that, but - historically - even the owners have been known to talk down their value ( take a look a bit higher up this thread.... ) so the message about good, structurally sound cars - and particularly early production ones - is still taking time to sink in.

So it takes time and patience to sell such cars, but it takes time and patience to buy them too. Hands need to be held a little. "Softly softly, catchee monkey". With a bit of luck this thread might help you to sell your car, and it might help a prospective buyer buy something that's very much worth having. Part of that process is to fully understand the individual car, and whilst that might seem a little too "anal" to you I can assure you that it's all for the best in the end.

As a 43+ year old car it will have had a life. As with wives and girlfriends, we mustn't wish their life began the day we met. It's nothing to be afraid of, and the car would tell us the whole story anyway if it could speak.

I understand that, the fuel recovery system is all still there.

Like I have said, I'm not out to rip anyone off or mislead,I am not an expert and am happy for anyone that is in the know to come look at it and give a true ,unbiased opinon for any prospective purchasers.
