New Distributor

Hi guys,
I’ve got a 240 that I’m coming to the end of restoring. It appears the distributor doesn’t work and so will need to buy a new one. Can anyone recommend a new distributor. It seems they are unavailable in the uk so will have to get overseas. I have a 260 engine and have gone for an electronic ignition so will need to match up. Pics attached of the ignition and the distributor that doesn’t work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks all.
George

not much can go wrong with the distributor body, don't you just need a new pertronix/aldon igniter?

Hi George, when I looked at mine, my pertronix had slightly worn which causes firing issuesIMG_20201010_144605.jpg

Under the distributor cap there's a round plastic ring with copper contacts that should be under green transparent tape. If that's worn, it fails to fire properly, and it can wear at the sensor (see pic, it's at the bottom of the distributor and has the white and red wire to it)

I didn't see that, clearly a chap who's on the ball, not!

I've seen articles on H&H in the classic car press and they've always had good reports.
I'd certainly look into having the existing dizzy refurbed by them, maybe even converted to electronic as well. Just avoid the pizzas.

If your going for a 123distributor try SCPARTS. www.scparts.co.uk . I got mine from them a couple of years ago so you will need to see if they are competitively priced. Can recommend the 123distributor.
