My 240z update

Darren,

when you referred to the cost involved so far - did you mean just the body-work and paint or the total including the amassing all the parts, engine etc ?

What front spoiler is that - great colour too !

Although the bodywork was not cheap the price was very good for the work done and the quality of work done. Its when you put all the other costs together such as the engine, gearbox, new bonnet, lsd, cv's, etc etc. that it all mounts up. Still worth every penny in my opinion even if I am on a beans on toast diet at the moment for obvious reasons.

The front spoiler is available from mike if anybody is interested.

Moggy:
The colour is Nissan Deep Marine Blue, usual found on Skylines.

Unless somebody has one tucked away then this will be the first in the UK, although I know of another RB Zed on the way too so I've got to pull my finger out if I'm going to be the first.

Yours' will be the first 'home-grown' :)

I understand the diet ! We call 'em 'haricots blanches au sauce tomate' ! How did you source the engine then, I thought it was from a breaker :-]

I bought the engine from a Skyline specialist up in Preston called RB Motorsport who also replaced the turbo's with steel centered ones and supplied an ecu etc. I believe it came from a car that lost a fight with a tree or lampost but never got to see the car.

Ignore ED! go on! a few more please! DJZ 60.:D

Outstanding, love the colour.

I've really had my eyes opened over the past couple of months on this site. Looking at the pictures posted on this and other threads, the quality of some of the restoration work going on is awesome. l'm well impressed with the dedication and commitment to keep these cars alive and well.

Fair play, Dean.

Went to view the car today and hand over the money, and I'm over the moon an excellent job's been done. Here's a few more pictures for you to enjoy.

Nice - am I allowed to ask if you'll keep the wheels ? With them, the car looks a bit too much like Mark Rayners' car !

Wheels are on borrowed time but will finish car and get it on the road then think about replacing with something a bit more special.

I know of one on the way too but so far the engine is still on the floor ........ you may well get there first by a very long shot. So far we are seeing standard cars, period mod cars, highly modified, seriously tuned L Series like DJ builds, TVR, Nissan V8, SBC - the whole modification scene is very vibrant at the moment.

The RB is a fantastic choice of engine - any idea which one you are going for or how much power you expect to see from it ? It would also be interesting to chat through what you are doing regarding suspension and brakes, no point making it go fast if it won't go round corners or stop properly.

Also, what made you choose the RB engine when there are lots of options to choose from ? Was it because it was a 6, Nissan or just because they are great engines ?

Rob

Wheels are 7x15 Compomotive ML's all round, still fitted with 205/50 Yoko A032r's. They are very nice wheels and some super sticky road legal tyres. Certainly were just the job when I ran the car in Hillclimbs & Sprints.

Cheers.
Ken...

Thanks Ken. I'm on 16's at the mo' (sort of), but it'd be nice to stick a different style on for when it hits the streets again.
