My 240z update

The RB is a fantastic choice of engine - any idea which one you are going for or how much power you expect to see from it ? It would also be interesting to chat through what you are doing regarding suspension and brakes, no point making it go fast if it won't go round corners or stop properly.

Also, what made you choose the RB engine when there are lots of options to choose from ? Was it because it was a 6, Nissan or just because they are great engines ?
Engine is from an R33 GTR which will probably only have 300bhp (only uprated air filters & exhaust with no cats)at first but once its taxed and ticketed and all the bugs are ironed out I'm aiming for 400/450bhp just going to modify it as I get use to the power. Should not be to hard to get that power plan to ditch the standard ecu for a programmable system and boost control, bigger injectors, and run 1 bar of boost.
Not sure why I picked an RB over other engine types but I like the tuning options open to me and I just like a challenge:) .

"Only" is not a word to put in the same sentence as 240 and 300BHP :D - it will absolutely fly ! Dave Jarman can get somewhere about that out of an L Series - I went in Dominic Frattaroli's rally car (driven by Laurence) about a year ago and 300BHP makes a seriously quick car (close to pant changing I have to say)

Everyone has advised me not to go too barmy on power with mine as they become undriveable after a while, 300 horses should see a really fast, tractable, driveable car.

So how is the work going on your zed, has Laurence started on it. Its alway exciting when somebody posts pictures of there project so you can see what people are attempting.

Buts it's more about how it makes the power, as mentioned before there are plenty of 600bhp skylines that make that for about 5rpm, the rest of the time they make very little. Get 300bhp in yours with a flat torque curve and then see what "only" 300bhp is like :)

As Russ says, torque is were its at.
My RB26 hits max torque at 3600rpm and is flat to 5900rpm then starts to tail off to 8000rpm witch makes it so drivable. You get a kick in the back at 3600 and it pulls hard to redline:D . Max bhp is 371 @ 6800 but still over 340 @ 5500. The engines pretty standard so you may find more than 300.

Looks superb BTW.

It's also about how you get the power done, having 600hp will be pointless if you have no traction. 300hp will give you a massive grin factor and as you say will be a good base to start off and get use to it, then you can find ways of extracting more power out of the unit :).

Well done, looks smashing and hope to see it around NW London and at the Pod :).
