Has anyone fitted the Leather dash they have advertised on ebay. They cost 299. Obviously you'd have to take the dash out but the big question is are they a decent fit and has anyone done this?

Thanks

There is a detailed write up on hybridz forum (worth searching on there).

From what I remember yes it fitted but required alot of hours of heating and shrinking to get it to look good. May be worth asking a professional upholsters to quote on fitting it.

Yes I have one of those leather dash covers fitted. See photo ( sorry for the poor quality ). I fully repaired the cracked dash top first to make a nice even surface to work on and yes, the whole dash had to come out for it to be worked on. I had it fitted by a professional upholsterer who said what a b.....d it was to do. I think the leather item is very good but the shape of the dash is always going to cause problems. Looks good, out of interest what sort of cost was it to have it fitted? I am in 2 minds if i should go this route or try to repair the cracks to oem finish in mine.

I think it was about £150 to have the leather fitted. The reason I went down the leather route was that trying to repair the original vinyl was not successful. When I repaired the cracks the repair was fine but the vinyl itself was brittle so the bits between the repaired cracks started to crumble when touched.
I like the idea of the fibreglass cover as it will cover and protect the whole thing but I didn't find those until after I had had the leather fitted.. I have seen videos of people laminating the whole dash with fibreglass matt/resin but I think that will get too messy for me and it would take a huge amount of sanding to try and regain the shape.
I see that complete, new dashboards are available in the USA but cost several thousands of pounds so out of my grasp.
