Le Mans 2005

So I will see you at indianapolis then !! Will your 250 Bhp be there then ?

Must admit I thought you were going to go for the higher figure , but 250 brake is MORE then enough !!!!

Bloody French keyboards !

But these are Daves' horses, real ponies ! And it's how they get down on the road that count, I think the car could stay large in your Skylines' rear mirror for a while :)

Car won't be ready for Le Mans this year but I'll be there in something Zeddish, promise !

Don't forget to let me know how many, if any want to eat BBQ Friday evening !

I don't believe that a 240Z can realistically handle 400 bhp - sure, one can have it installed but can you use it, as a Z should be driven (ie more than straight lines) ?

A Skyline has that power, but it also has all the kit to handle it - putting that power into a prehistoric Z is irresponsible !

Friday 10 June - Free BBQ offered by our club (Club Zen de France)
Saturday 11 June - in the morning 'cool', meet the others, discuss
Saturday afternoon - eat in the camping resto/bar
Saturday afternoon - Convoy leaving at 14:00 to the karting circuit at 15:00 (1 - 1 1/2 hrs with two people per kart in an endurance style - like Le Mans with driver changes at Moncoutant)
If time allows, apreitifs offered at my house before returning for a meal in a lakeside resto at Argenton Château
Sunday 12 June - convoy to Tours for the Historic Grand Prix (street racing) and parts market
Sunday evening - BBQ and boule competition
Monday 13 June - day at the Grand parK du Puy du Fou with prepared pic-nic

The aim of the weekend is to have fun, meet others and their cars for all the family, including children for the least amount of money !

Two websites to look at :

www.camping-raudiere.com
www.puydufou.com

We have negociated good prices on mobil homes for the weekend - 35 euro per night (bedlinen not included) or 10 euros per night for tents or 12 euros per night for caravans/camping-cars with electricity.

The snack bar is reasonably priced and the karting price is 65 euros per hour so 49 euro per person (two per kart). One should count on 25-30 euros per person (everything included) for the meal on Saturday evening. The second BBQ and the Monday pic-nic will cost about 8 euros per person.

We will also be present at the Le Mans 24 hrs race, Friday evening( the 17) at 16:00 at Indianapolis corner to park up and show off and afterwards at Camping Expo for a BBQ !

Please make your reservations with me asap, by telephone by preference or by email ! There are aleady nearly 20 people coming !

Sean

My dear friend, can you explain why you changed the date????
I just spoke Edwin and he told there's no Dutchman coming because of this change..

I have never changed the date of Le Mans 2005 and this club weekend was always a pre-Le Mans weekend !
Two Dutch couples said they were not going onto Le Mans and Miriam+ said they would, I emailed them the directions and all advice necessary !

At the beginning of the story, the ACO hadn't clarified the race weekend dates, as soon as this was clear, I started quoting the 'new dates' ! What has happened is that I didn't cross-check their more recent replies (when they were still writing about the original dates) and they didn't check my replies and above all were not aware of the 24 hrs race dates ! www.lemans.org

I'm as disappointed as they are !

I'm going on my bike to Le Mans on the Saturday morning and sleeping rough at the track that night. If there are any of you at the race it's self it would be great to meet up and have a beer.

Well, we were there, a 260 and a 240 Z watching the police trying to shut down the improvised drag-strip !!!

Sean, I bet you had a fantastic time, must make it one year.

Seen lots of GPs (including Long Beach), World Rallies, IOM TTs, but not LeMans!

How good are those Corvettes!

'kin strong ! Not as fast as the Astons on the long straights but always there 5th and 6th in the overall classifications !!!

Watch this space for news of a Le Mans holiday in two years time - otherwise, I shall be there next year as always ! Book early !

Looks like you took the photo on Monday morning - when we were there (until 17:30) Friday, you couldn't see the grass for cars and there were convoys of cars filtering through ! Next year ? And did you enjoy the race and atmosphere ?

Bum - damned sorry we missed each other !

Did you wonder why the flics had cameras ? To record the number plates of cars mis-behaving so they can trace them later :) Fact !

Oh god! I do hope you were wrong about les cameras!
Hope also it was good again. Twas good but hot methinks .
May I apologise again for the no show - but I did have an excuse other than incahol this year. And Le AA did get the car back to me in the end .
As for already booked - Sean - Maison blanche is looking dicey already ! I have booked though.
What about the le mans classic anybody ? Trying to get the Sam out for that one . I'll be there , how about your beasty S ?
In summary - all I can say about this year - 3 piece alloys are not all they are cracked up to be !!
I was lucky with les police.
Gallardos are too slow ! :p
Oh and when you hit the Armco in a Corvette at 80'ish it doesn't quite hurt like it should !

I shall be booking my tickets shortly !

I shall probably be at Le Mans Classic - it is only 2 hrs drive away !
