Conclusion:

He is not a twat yet, but may become one when car is completed?

There is a compliment in there, as it is saying that his car will be awesome when done, and we all agree on that.

Correct; so that means not EVERYONE with a nice car is a twat!

We need to define the difference don't we.

I must be a "sort of" twat because my car is "sort of" nice :D

twat (n)
Taboo, slang
1 the female genitals
2 a girl or woman considered sexually
3 a foolish or despicable person
(of unknown origin)

Come on chaps James has not been given the money he must have worked bloody hard for what he has.

but at the same time he was asking his accountant if it was a viable project and you have to ask yourself how much the BBC paid him to film the program.as i am sure he was looking at making a profit on the venture and as most people know anything to with classic cars will always cost more.

I pissed myself when that bubble car went over the finish line. Berk!

and yes that was funny

overall i enjoyed the program as it was interesting, even if it was out of my league !!!!!

Like Nigel said this wasn't even a 'real' race. This was basically a drive through Italy over 3 days at a set average speed. I have navigated on road rallies in Wales at night in far worse conditions, where every second counted. James wouldn't have stood a chance of finishing those within max lateness either. You have to build up to these things.

It could have been an interesting programme but I find things like that frustrating when money rules. In all forms of motorsport you've got to get the basics right before all the 'flash'. He'd never done a rally (this was basically a regularity rally), the car was untried, the navigator thought she was going to drive and was untried too (as a navigator with him I mean). You have to walk before you can run!

I would imagine Hugh and Debby Myres would have completed this event in their 240 without too much trouble, I hope they didn't watch it!

If anyone is interested in seeing historic racing cars competing flat-out in historic events then go to the Le Mans Classic in 2010.

Maybe this was part of its appeal to the programme producers, as they think it makes for better TV when there is an element of uncertainty.
