Just watched the programme about the TV chef James Martin entering the Mille Miglia - great story and cars and I will not mention any thing else in case any of you have recorded it.
Reminded me of my dream to buy a Ferrari and drive down to watch the Le Mans 24 which I finally did in 03 and again in 05 with a great bunch of lads in other Ferraris,TVRs,Caterham, Astons and Jags including a D-Type with Le Mans history.
The DVD we made of our trip had the same music.

What an awesome program although i really felt for him when the valve went, poor guy.

£87,000 to enter something, 200 miles and your engine's knackered but looked so much fun!

What channel was it on guys, is it to be repeated?

Chappers, I can understand the thrill you got out of your Le Mans trip.

It was a good programme, what got me was he said, he had only covered 200 miles since rebuild when he broke down, and he did 120miles on the first stage so they didn't run it in at all, you think they would have tested it a bit more before letting it go, I would expect it to be a good one for £300,000.

I like the way he told his nice blonde girlfriend, who wanted to be his co driver, that she couldn't go....And then chose another nice blonde (racing driver) girl to be his co driver!

he was a celebrity chef

You missed out the bit where I played bass guitar for The Who before they were famous.

The favourite rumour for many, many years in the school where I taught ...

I watched this too, Was very interesting if you like watching a load of spoilt over paid rich prats showing off their fancy lifestyles :nopity:.

Yes the cars where fantastic and it's nice to see them being used but it wasn't exactly something Mr Joe average could have a go at was it , Most of the cars where worth silly amounts of money far beyond the means of most car enthusiasts, The car he used was ugly a sin and it couldn't even drive a 1000 gentle miles after a 300k rebuild (WTF ).

I'd of liked to of been a fly on the wall later in the evening after his silly blond tart had met his new co driver for the first time :lol::lol:.

Even if I was loaded I doubt very much if I'd be wasting a million of my hard earned pounds doing something like that, Their are a lot slightly cheaper events to show off old cars in this country like the goodwood festival of speed.

er you had a good xmas then mr vpulsar ?

Nothing to do with whether I had a good Christmas or not old chap, I'm a commie at heart and don't like to see these rich prats shoving their wealth down peoples throats especially when a lot of people around the world are just about to loose their homes/jobs in a recession , That was probably caused by the very people that turn up to this kind of event.

It's a fantasy world non of us normal people could never hope to participate in!

But on the other hand I suppose it is the only time us mear mortals will get to see these fantastic machines being used in anger, Because they spend most of their time under cover in a heated garage surrounded by other equally impressive machinery never getting used.

I'm happy you enjoyed the program but it left a bad taste in my mouth I'm afraid.

Ditto..............................ish. I wouldn't mind if it was some sort of race. My money was on the camera crew in the Discovery which probably never got out of 3rd gear! Totally pointless obscene exercise. I've got a trophy somewhere for a similar event I did in my brand new £850 escort GT. Mind you, that was 1970!

To be honest I'd rather watch a load of Mk2 escorts doing the race driven by real enthusiastic and not just the elite showing off their wealth and eye candy blonds.

You can't beat the sound and smell of real motors giving it some welly, Plus you can fix most of them at the side of the road with out the need for an £18000 set of pistons only for it break down after a 120 miles of gentle driving.

I pissed myself when that bubble car went over the finish line. Berk!

Yes indeed talk about rubbing salt in the poor little boys wounds :lol::lol::lol:.

That must of been a painful moment even rivaling the kick in the bollox he must of got off his bird after she met the new blond ;).
