well what a weekend that was. I have to say that I was not expecting to be on the pace so quickly after a 14 month layoff and a rebuilt, untried and untested car, but I was straight back into the 35 second runs. Got 2nd place on both days and was only beaten by a lotus elise that had to produce his personal best on both days to beat me. The porsche 911rs I have the measure of and with further testing and suspension set up over the winter I think that now the elise is well within target. Final run of the day ended in a spin on the entry to karousel as I was trying to leave braking later and believe that I have now found the late braking point. It is about 1 second before the point I broke at on that run. The car is soooooooooooo drivable on this injection setup. Dee (to my knowledge the only women in the Z club driving a Z in competition ) had a frustrating end to a good solid weekends racing, building confidence in herself and the car again, but came away very pleased and looking forward to next season. Ken Dollen had some irritating missfire problems that plaqued him over the weekend but still produced some rapid and solid 36 second climbs to fend of the TVR Griffith and the awesomely quick E type jag. A promising end to the season at gurston.

Can you put a calendar of events up? This is something that had never interested me before but I might have to come and cheer if you get anywhere near me.

hi derek I will put up a calender next season we are hoping to go further afeild next year with possibly a trip to harewood nr leeds and also loton park in shropshire. It would be good to see you and I can assure you that you would get a warm welcome at any of the hillclimbs that ken,dee and I compete at

Hi Ben

I hear your box of electrical bits and pieces came in handy to one of the Escort boys!

Well done Ben, the car looked and sounded awesome!! Great to see that you were right on the pace with so little time for development and fine tuning. Surprised a few people, even yourself maybe? Roll on next year when I expect to see some solid class wins.

Nice one mate!!!!!!

Ben,

Do you think you might make Shelsley Walsh at all when you venture further afield next year?

I've always wanted to see a Z racing there ....:D

That said Loton is nearer home for me ...;)

Mike

Thanks for the info Ben, glad it went well and that Dee is out and at it again. Glad the car did you proud as well.

colin how do you know graham rudge??????ken yes it did surprise me to be on the pace so quickley. I had hoped to be in the 35s by the end on the sept meeting. Looking forward to next season. Hope all goes well at longleat for you. I shall be at work boo hoo. Mike, shelsley is one of the hills we are trying to fit in next season. I have never run there, it looks quite narrow in places. The car used to run there with it's previous owner. Loton is a definate as I love the place. Also maybe a trip up to Harewood nr Leeds, that is an amazing venue in the good weather with very good spectating. Hope to see you at a meeting somewhere cheers ben

Hi Ben
re Graham Rudge
I am a member of Sevenoaks Motor Club and several of our lot were out to play at Gurston inc (I think) Ian and Keith Crocker in Westie Seight and Ginetta and Darren Russel in a Visa GTi

The story of Grahams problems was relayed by our SW correspondant (although I have heard him called a few other things!), a certain Mr Lay

Ah the voiciforous kieth lay. I always try to help out others if I can and now I have got back into the swing of things the motorhome has a good array of usefull spares hidden away in the lockers. Glad that the problem was solvable for Graham. cheers ben
