[SOLVED] Group Harrington rubber - a MASSIVE disappointment

As some of you know I changed my bumpers for the shiny stainless steel ones about 1.5 years ago.

At the time I was debating whether to go rubber free or practice safe bumpers and decided to keep the car looking as intended for U.K. market.

Well, the fit on the bumpers wasn't great and I improvised / bent the brackets to make them fit. But what I didn't expect was the rubbers to start cracking inside 2 years!!! Especially as the car lives in the garage and only did around 800 miles last year 99% dry miles!

The forty year old ones were in a better state. I will be writing to them but I'm not holding my breath for any goodwill.

But thought to post up so as to warn other members thinking of buying these expensive bits of steel.

If you get stuck I probably have a set of there rubber that you can have f.o.c
As I ordered mine with out holes and they supply the rubbers with them.
Probably going to order another set soon as well

I have had mine for just a bit longer and noticed that they were doing the same albeit to a lesser degree than yours. I use Autoglym rubber restorer on mine to try to keep them a bit more supple but they have still cracked.

I think they have some sort of coating on the outside and this is what is perishing mainly as a result of the dry and probably also due to temperature changes (expansion & contraction). I now wish I had gone for the rubber free versions.:(

Will be interested to know what the outcome of your complaint would be.
