Group Harrington or Futofab Bumpers?

Hello all,
Shell is progressing well and should be in the process of flatting/levelling etc in the next few weeks. When I bought the car it did not have any chrome front/rear bumpers fitted so I am reinstating them. I want to get them trial fitted, adjusted etc before the shell is painted.
As far as I know there are two options here: Group Harrington bumpers or Futofab?
Anyone had experience of both and could advise which maybe the best way to go?
Or does anyone have any good original ones for sale?
Cheers
Ryan

The forum "search" option is your friend. This has been discussed many times before!

Personally, what I've taken from the previous discussions are that the Futofab ones are good and fit well. The Harrington ones obviously have no risk of rust, but are very expensive, can scratch easily, and the front ones don't fit properly and need tweaking (and they don't appear to have done anything to address this despite numerous people having raised it).

It's harder to maintain a mirror surface in st.stl , unlike Chrome, so I would guess they will be more labour / polish intensive. It's also called 'stainless' not 'no-stain', so it can discolour to some degreee. I work with stainless quite a lot and a wise individual once said the clues in the name! I reckon the 2nd hand and rechrome may be the best option.
I've just had a quote for a rechrome and it was in the region of £350 per bumper, I haven't shopped around yet tho.

£350? Whoa. I had my rear one done for £150 - although that was 10 years ago! But 350 sounds somewhat more than just inflation!

The joys of living uuup norf in Bexitland! :devil:Down south we are looking at £500 upwards per bumper.

Best place is The south London chrome company, expensive but you get wot yer pay for, rear is probably £500 now ,probably get it cheaper elsewhere,i.e. Poland,Lithuania etc, worth a punt

Why would anyone pay £500 to re-chrome, when you can get a Futofab one for less...

And has anyone used them, any idea on shipping costs to the UK. Their service with Bongo shipping sounds a bit convoluted...??

Have ordered a few sets from Dave at Futofab.
Good quality and easy to fit but never had the chromed versions, just black. The chroming will be done in the Far East and be OK but would probably not stand too many UK Winters.

Bongo International was a good way of shipping but they are no more, taken over by FedEx a while ago who just last week announced they are no longer offering the service.

Last set I bought shipping $ 180.

Remember there will be duty at small % and VAT 20% to add to purchase price plus shipping so adds on quite a bit to final costs.

Ballpark will be about £ 900 delivered.

Cheers Chris, I only need a good front one so I guess about half that £900 estimate and the car doesn't do winter much ;)

I have a set of FRP bumpers brand new at approx. 30% discount if anyone wants them
£ 125 bumpers only or £ 150 with fixings.

Richard I had some more work done by the same chap last year for one of my motorbikes I did notice that the cost had gone up a lot.
