Flywheel lightening

I don't strictly, but my L28 is from an auto so flywheel will have to be swapped - so it seemed easier sort it in advance, rather than take the flywheel off the L24. And then I wondered if getting it lightened before I put it on was a good idea.

So, why aren't some more members contributing to this Thread?

Surely there are members with views, experiences, advice etc. I'm not the only one with a lightened flywheel I know.

Jon wants to make an informed decision.

Just my opinion, I would keep the original and buy a lightweight one. At least then you can always swap back if you ever wanted to?

I think its been covered pretty well in the past Rob
But personally if a commercially made unit is available I would always choose that versus machining out a 40 year old unit as it can expose stress cracks etc

Thanks everyone, I think I'll just stick to my old stock one.
I accept the wisdom of not lightening a 40 year old one, but the performance benefits don't justify the cost of a new lighter one.

Hi John i have an auto box you can have no need to swap flywheel ,problem solved no need to do this anymore:driving: may even help you drag times :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Derrick:D;)
