That's really sad news.

I only saw him a few weeks ago on the Tour Britannia, I have some pictures, I'll try to 'post' them.

Me and my Dad knew him through Stuart Turner and in fact when I was a young lad he stayed at our house (in my bed). I was in another of course!

A great guy with a good sense of humour, especially when in Mike Wood's company (his co-driver).

That's shocked me!

Sad.

That's the way of it! this strange thing,we know as life. We live through an existence that see's,changes, friends, family or hear of other's who are no longer with us. Sad. very sad.

I alway's say. . . . we're born. we then endure the in between crap & burdens associated with life, & then we.......................

It was a very Sad Day Indeed.

We had only just checked into the late night control in Tanzania when we learnt of his death.

He was there as an observer, but also wanted to learn the rally. He had mentioned that he was interested in doing the EAST African SAfari Rally in 2009.

I had the honour to meet him in his final days.

I had the priviledge to know him as a personal friend since about 1964 when we were both doing National-level rallies.
He was just a great guy, a true Yorkshireman and a superb driver.
What you saw was what you got. Tony had no 'other side'.
I last saw him a few weeks ago when he and I and another old rally friend spent the evening in a local pub (Tony lived not far from me). He was just full of life.
He'll be sadly missed by all his very many friends throughout the world.
