Eibach springs, which way up

Hi all,

Went to install my lowering springs today, the sping is wound tighter on one side,

I presumed the tighter side would go to the bottom, but as i put it in i noticed the writing on the spring is upside down,

Anyone know which way the spring should be?

Thanks,

Jay

When you say one side do you mean one end?

IMHO I wouldn't think it matters, I can't see how being one way or the other makes the spring have different properties.:conf2:

if its anything like motorbikes it doesn't matter ( you can install progressive fork springs in either way round) logic being ( as Rob says) that the springs should perform the same regardless of which way round they are

Yeah I mean one end of the spring is different than the other end, The coil is closer together on one end than the other, just not sure which end goes on the bottom,

I didn't think it would matter either but then why have diffrent ends?

I'll have to find out before I put them in.

Thanks

As far as I know yes, but wait for a few more opinions. Have you tried the supplier/manufacturer?

Mine have the writing the correct side up (ie not upside down) when mounted. This means that the thicker coiling is at the top ! They work fine, were put on by DJR and it seems logic that the writing is the 'right-way' up ! Get busy now !

Cool thats what I was look for, Just a friend of mine has his with the thicker side at the bottom so I was doing the same untill I saw the writing upside down!!!

Time to get my hands dirty!

Thanks,

Jay

Mine r the same as seans, your car could be up side down, that would explain it but probably not

well have my springs in now, and also informed my friend his were the wrong way round, he wasn't in the least pleased!!

I would suggest you tell your mate to check with Eibach to see if it makes a difference before he starts pulling his car to bits
