Check Fuel hoses

I have replace lots of fuel hose on my various zeds, some only a year or so old. I did previously recommend sae j30 r9 but would now like to remove that recommendation. You will see this hose for sale a lot and having used it then replaced in a very short period of time I would never use it again. The type I now use is called bio hose. It is around 4 times the price of normal r9 hose but highly recommended. Here's a link:

I've been using this Cohline Bio fuel hose for 10 years on all my classic cars. Zero deteriation.

Just resurrecting this thread if you don't mind? Does anyone also use fuel additives along with high octane E5? I'm thinking something like Madditive with Ethanol Shield?

I use Millers power plus in my 260z provides ethanol protection lead replacement and octane boost

Forgive me if I'm wrong but if your car isn't designed to run on 97/98 fuel then until now there was no benefit to paying the extra? I doubt that they frequently had access to high octane fuel in the 70s and the manual doesn't seem to state its required.

Dont mistake US octane ratings to be similar to UK ones. They use a minimum octane number (MON) ours is a research octane number (RON). If you compare them directly, the 91 MON US rated fuel is simar to our 95RON UK fuel. Apart from their high octane stuff which is no better than our 97 octane fuel, japanese cars have traditionally preferred higher octane fuel to US cars. The lack of Lead in modern fuels, and the higher burning temperatures of E10 and lower octane fuels can all potentially cause damage to older engines not designed for that fuel. As such my preferred blend of Esso 99+ supreme ethanol free plus true Tetra E lead replacement shots are in my Tank.its like old school 5 star...

Think about this though... If we all did as we were told and used E10, why would the government keep E5 going much longer? If the demand for E5 remains high and earns them more tax back, why would the stop supplying it? It's our duty to ensure we use it and maintain a future supply!

I have found that different filling stations have different octane fuels even in the Super Unleaded which has affected how my engine runs.

If I use the Esso 99+ Super, I found that I dont need to use an additive. The problem is that you are not always near an Esso station when you need fuel! If I use anything that is lower than that e.g. supermarket Super, I stick a shot of Millers Power Plus in with it. I have had no running problems since I adopted that approach.

I NEVER use E10 even with an additive. The engine popped & banged and would not run properly no matter how I tuned it (running on twin SUs).
