This is my 1971 Datsun 240Z in Safari Gold.

I have had the car for about 7 years and finally getting to the point to move it on.

One re-paint in original color in the 80's or 90's from the original owner.

Basically a rust free car that has spent it's whole life in California and still has the original California license plates attached.

Number matching L24 with standard 4 speed transmission. E31 head and factory 4 screw SU's. Stock R180. Engine has been rebuilt with new pistons, bearing etc but no paperwork available. I had the head off so can attest to the aftermarket pistons.

Stock factory suspension. Aftermarket mid muffler and appears to have factory rear muffler.

This car has the factory 2400 valve cover and metal cooling fan. Also has the correct series 1 steering wheel and spedo / oil pressure gauge. Correct "D" hubcaps.

Correct early series 1 seats that have been reupholstered. New re-pop Hung Vu door cards. New aftermarket carpeting. Correct radio antenna but unknown if it works.

Missing factory radio and factory antenna switch. Windshield has a small chip passenger side.

Will be posting to BAT in the states sometime in September.

Contact me PM if you want to talk further about the car.

Cheers, Mike

Lovely Mike. I've had a standard UK 240 and you certainly feel like you are in a classic car when you drive them. Mine was 5 speed with rear arb. I think there is a place for these type of cars, would suit me now in my 70s. Can you fit it in your case?
In a strange way I had a factory wsm and liked the fact that it covered my car. My other 3 cars were modified and most components changed.
A well modified car is a completley different car to a standard one. There is a place for both.

I'd find it interesting to know what this car sells for. As has been mentioned on here recently I think the market may be shrinking - I'm probably typical of the buyer. The younger guys like the more sexy modified cars. I like both. The S30 is quite rare in that it can be both, unlike EType, TR6 etc.

The colour of this car is lovely. It would be a great buy for someone - whether here or on BaT. I love the steel wheels and hubcaps. I’ve been through all the modified lark on cars and feel as if I’ve come full circle now - much more interested in the originality aspects of these cars (and others) nowadays … !

Thanks Mark,

she is not a show car but a nice quality driver car with most of the original bits. Someone will be very happy with her.

Mike
Exactly what I like about it. A driving car for classic enjoyment and occassional meets. Some might want to take it to the next level (enginebay) but not me. Each to their own. My Honda CB750K is like that, smart and usable and I've got it running beautifully (like I did with my 240Z trackday car).

Sold today on BAT.

Was happy with the price I got and the buyer got a great car.

Funny thing is, the winning bidder and new owner has lived in Los Angelas for 5 years but is originally from the UK!!!!!......I asked him if he had been on this forum at all and he said that he would check it out soon. i told him I am a regular on here.

Anyways, thought you all would get a kick out of that.

Cheers.

On to my next project: it is at the mechanics shop for a week and we got it running after sitting for almost 20 years.

I am having him do the heavy lifting with some engine work and front end rebuild.

Once i get it back home I will continue with small parts order and clean up, tire and wheel replacement etc.

1984 4Runner SR5, 22R 5 speed manual.

Should be lots of fun to get it back on the road and driving in the snow.

Cheers, Mike

I didn't know what it was Mike. Had to Google 4runner, so it's a Toyota. Did we ever get these?

Yes, Toyota 4Runners were and still are very popular 4wd SUV's in the states.
1984 was the first year of the 4runner and most of the early 80's and 90's 4runners are bringing good money if in nice driver condition. Most were off road'ed and destroyed or the tin worm go to them like our Zeds. To find an original paint with no rust is very hard to find anywhere in the states. Kind of a toss up between these 4runners and the 4wd trucks as to which is more popular, probably leans towards 4runners as you can take the family off to a camp site or enjoy a day in the snow.

Can't talk to popularity of early 4runners in the UK as I don't know but might be pretty cool seeing one drive down the road in Cotswolds.
