Big valves, L24 block?

Morning all -
I'm having the inlet valves replaced on my e88 head - replacing 42mm valves with 44mm.
I read last night somewhere that with an L24/L26 block one must notch the block for the larger inlet valves to clear it.

This sounds like a PITA. Is it true?

thanks

Correct - if you can get hold of a copy of the US Tuning Book on the 'L'Series Engines, it shows you exactly how to do it.

No doubt one of the brighter sparks on here can tell you in more Technical detail.

Thanks - I've got a US book on L series tuning. I'll look again: I must have missed that bit!

Hi !

My L24 raceengine with E88 have 44 mm inlet and 35 ex. - no problem to clear the block / cylinder edge !

Bore in my engine is 84 mm -- but turn the engine by hand before monting head gasket and all !

Maybe with 45 or 46 mm it will be a problem !

My L24 has those valves and the block is notched.
You will have to check your own engine for clearence issues.
