At Last in colour

Did you have the plate traces Franky has blancked out on the rear valence (where the tank straps are held up) ?

Looks great. Can you remember to take loads of pictures to help others put theirs back together. Have you any pics of it outside in normal light?

Will do. Mind you think I am going to have fun putting it all back together myself
Didn't get a chance today to take any photos in natural light as it was drizzling with rain when I collected it today.
orange is just one of those colours that can look so different dependant on type of light

It does look great.

Sean was talking about the spot weld indentations and raised mig welds on the lower rear valence. They all came from the factory like this as they didn't fill the spot weld dimples anywhere on the car or grind off the welding excess. IMO just leave it as it came from the factory but it really is personal choice with no right or wrong. Would you fill all the other spot weld dimples on the car Sean?

I think if you're doing a factory-correct resto you leave the body as much as you can as it left the factory. This is why people spot weld floors in etc ...

If you're doing any kind of modifications, front spoilers, those huge arches, change of engine etc, get the body how YOU want it - you want smooth, filled in spot welds, do it.

That's how I see it ... but neither is right or wrong, just my opinion.

Sorry for the HS.

Yes...and I'll qualify why.

I'd love a standard 240Z (as well) but haven't the budget so my only one will be as I want.

The 240Z was built as a budget car and it shows - all these extra panels (off the front wings) and weld points testify to that and why not - it was a volume seller and Nissan is there to sell.

They tried something with the CSP311 and it 'failed', Toyota went a different way and although worth a fortune today and have been exploited for publicity, they did Toyota few favours.

The 240Z (imho) deserves to give an overall impression condusive to its looks and not to original build-cost and therefore mine will not show off the OEM build clues.
I hope that it won't be perceived as one stage away from 'tuning' - I'll let you all be the judge of that (so arm those pick-nitters) when finished.

The 'theme' of the car is a modern-classic road-car.

Sorry Fairlane - back OT, seems a popular colour - do these choices come in waves ?

I think its only on the passenger side of LHD cars. It's basically a square made up of 4 holes. The top 2 are mig welded so raised the same as the row in your picture and the bottom 2 are dimples from spot welding. They are just inward of the bumper mount.

I think its only on the passenger side of LHD cars.

There are two tank strap mount brackets (four if you count both ends). Positions are asymmetric, because the tank is offset to the right of the body.

The rear bracket on the RH side is just inboard of the bumper mount, and the rear bracket on the LH is more toward the centreline of the body.

Both should have the four weld points in a square pattern visible from the rear of the car, but they are mostly covered by the bumper.

Many years ago I had a racing B105

PM the reg number of your old Berkeley and I will check with the club records to see if it's still around.
I also had a racing B105 up until last year Jon 355 sold her back to Jon Goddard-Watts who raced her back in 1959
