I noticed when my membership lapsed that the option to edit was missing so typo's seen after posting could not be altered. No big deal really and I do hate edited posts as you never know what was originally said so the whole thread becomes disjointed.

Well, that's odd. It surely must be just as irritating for members to see typos from newbies, as well. :D

Agreed. But, personally speaking, it's annoying to spot a typo you missed before hitting the 'Submit' button and not being able to put it right.

I can understand 'Website Member' status giving less forum functionality/privilege than 'Z Club Member' status, but to take away the ability to edit/correct your own posts seems rather obtuse...

This. It's just my opinion, but I actually think it results in the opposite to what johnymd was saying. The thread becomes cluttered with double posts (a second post to correct the first).
