Irrespective of how people can be distracted with gadgets etc, if they don't look where they're going and especially before turning out of a side-road....this is what happens...well, it did to me yesterday morning - no time to brake if you look at the (red) point of impact on the road...and a cute set of emergency stop traces (of a lorry:eek:) just before I succumbed to a second (but slightly less) violent shock against the trees in the ditch.

Oooh ouch. Glad your unhurt Sean

There were many distractions before mobile devices came along. Fiddling with the radio, playing with the cigarette lighter, attending to a child in the back seat, turning to tell off a child in the back, chatting with friends in the back. Maybe we should ban all objects from the car (including passengers) and just listen to the sound of the engine. We still managed to have accidents even before the mobile phone came along. Now we have the ability to take a selfie whilst the accident is in progress.

How do we go about banning those super attractive girls that always appear on the pavement just before things get busy?!

It was all easier before touch screen mobile phones, we could atleast text by touch then.

Edit: just got what you were saying! Totally agreed!

But if you have Siri you can just speak to the phone now and it types the text ;)

I saw an advert in the cinema last night on how to survive cold water in an ocean.. Like come on, how many people are likely to experience that vs. middle lane hoggers and drivers using their phones on the move???

White van man just made a delivery drove off on mobile and no seat belt.

Everyone is in a rush these days and don't like to share the roads with others !

Here now, if you're behind a slower vehicle, it seems to be acceptable to overtake on a solid white line ! Weren't they painted thus for a bloody good (security) reason ?
