280Z 2+2 just 2k miles

So which school-kid did they have write this one up ?

"Datsun specified Bosh K-Jetronic fuel injection placed on a slightly enlarged engine, preserved the performance of their flagship "Z".

The 280z was offered in the surprisingly attractive 2+2 configuration that added a good deal of practicality without spoiling the pure shape of the original.

This 280Z represents one of the most usable and reliable of the Z cars but is also one that maintains the classic styling of the original. "

Just sent them a mail :

I have spotted a fundamental error in your listing, disappointing coming from an auction house so respected as Bonham’s.

"Datsun specified Bosh K-Jetronic fuel injection placed on a slightly enlarged engine”

It was of course Nissan who fitted the Bosch L-Jetronic – the very latest electronic system designed in association
with Diesel Kiki :

In 1939 Diesel Kiki Co., Ltd. was founded under a Bosch license for domestic production of fuel-injection pumps for diesel engines.

Even the Porsche 924 only had as OEM the outmoded mechanical K-Jetronic system !

“………this 280Z is a true time capsule example of a landmark 70s sports car.”

Please, as befits a Datsun Z, verify your facts as you would for any other classic car.

Many thanks and have a great auction.

Yep I suppose so. I posted the Ad at near midnight and to be honest one of the reasons was for you, thinking you might have a customer. So you tell me my Thread is in the wrong place and you inform the Auction house that their ad is inaccurate.

Any views on the car?

We count upon the moderators to set the best example - no ?:)

Yes I did and Bonham's no less ! Pitiful !:(

Yep - over-valued.

Any car driven only 2000 miles in 40 years is not a good idea and rather sad - cars are for driving.

I can't see how this one will appeal to most being a 2+2 and I don't agree that it continues the classic line of the original Z.......and I like S30 2+2s.

But I'd love to see it reach its price !;)

The guy said "Pride & joy for many years"
What he really mean't to say was "Yeah I parked it up in 1978 after less than 2,500 miles and forgot about it" :D

It's a price based on the time-warp originality - given its the least desirable possible model in the S30 range!

Now, how much would've it gone for if it had been a 1970 240Z?...

If we are talking US market cars, I guess it depends on if we are talking early 74 or later 74 260Z. At least the early ones had a greater degree of purity before the bigger bumpers came in.

Obviously sir, US cars being a 280Z and in a US auction.

At least the 280Z has injection and an L28 - if people say here that the 260Z is a better road car, that doubles (imho) over there for the 280Z !

Never stopped me enjoying my 240Z on the road though.......:D
