I'll be laving the intake piping unpolished. But I won't be leaving the intercooler piping like that, to me it just looks unfinished, factory pipes would not have the welding discolouration on them so I want to get rid of this, I will either get them brushed or polished. Brushed would have a more factory look but I'm leaning more to polished because it will match my radiator and my twin turbo pipe, otherwise theres too much variation in the bay, which I don't like.

If I decide polished isn't right, its very easy to change them to a brushed finish.

Just not liking this, while the welds and the colouration look nice on the pipes as individual items when you look a the bay as a whole it just doesn't work, the colouration breaks it up too much, it needs to be all one colour to look smart.

No chance, I love my red covers, black would look horrible against the blue imo.

A factory wouldn't polish anything.

Form follows function.

Off to Dublin on Saturday to catch the boat on Sunday morning to England for Tuning on Monday and Tuesday.

Only running a limited map at the moment, just enough to get me to England, low throttle, low boost, low RPM's, haven't been past 1/2 throttle or 4000rpms but I already love it.

Greg @ ProTuner, can't find anything bad about him and from talking to him he seems like he knows his stuff more than most.

I've just had a look at the ProTuner site and it appears to have links to porn all over it:eek: I didn't try them but perhaps you ought to tell them when you visit.

Yeah, I noticed that the other day, I'll make sure to let him know. I get the feeling he doesn't keep the website very up to date so probably hasn't even looked on it for a while.

Quite mean looking with the intercooler there, you can just about see the diffuser plate below the intercooler, this makes a huge difference to the aerodynamic performance. Plus it look much better than without it.

Once I get back I'll be giving her a full detail to get her looking her best.

Was great standing back today and looking at my work, that's my dream car right there (or will be once mapped) hard to believe its sitting on my driveway.

Looks great, it's all so clean. I wish I was in a position where my biggest problem was whether to polish or not to polish a pipe! I like where you've put the boost gauge (at least I'm assuming that's the boost gauge in the side of the console).

Just curious about your passenger door though, does it stick out a little at the lower rear corner? Only mine does too, and I know my door is bent out in that area but even if it wasn't I think it might still stick out a little. And I am 100% certain I welded the dogleg in the right place as not only did I measure up several times but the flanges it welds to pretty much position it in the correct place anyway. I've also seen photos of other S30s that seem to have this issue, is this quite a common thing? I've tried shimming the top door hinge but you can only adjust it so much!

Greg is so busy and has a great reputation! I spoke to him recently about my project.

I remember him tuning western performance s13 which Mark used to pedal, that thing only had an SR20DET and was a 500bhp smoke machine.

Great choice!

Biggest problem right now is getting it mapped and home safely, and getting my indicators to work, and finding out what is causing the slight wobbling I get through the wheel at speed, its not all plain sailing.

That's my fuel gauge down there, boost gauge is the gauge in the centre dash on the right, then oil pressure then coolant temp.

Yeah, my passenger door doesn't line up correctly, worst at the rear lower corner. Thought it was just a problem I had on mine, thought it could be because the door deals are bigger than the originals or something, although I'd assume drivers door seals are the same and that door is fine?

Thanks, will be glad when its over, it been a lot of research, hard work, money and stress. Will definitely drive her carefully and learn her one step at a time, I imagine I'll feel quite intimidated by that engine once tuned going by how it feels already.

Very good reputation, that's what I based my decision on. Hopefully he does a good job.

Simply Stunning Ian could be factory install

NICE !
Thanks, your is a very neat install, would look like a factory install if it didn't have BMW on it.

As has been said. Superb. Look the engine look with the cam covers and unpolished intake.
Thanks, I've always loved the look of RB26's and I put a lot of thought into the look of my engine setup.

Polished plenum would have been too much shiny bling wouldn't it, the soda blasted finish just balances the lot nicely.
