Good stuff!

Get it painted - given your experience around the track these days, I would've thought it would be relatively safe from having something nasty happen to it! Obviously, I well done paint job also secures greater longevity on the bodywork side of things too and looks good when its sitting in the paddock.

Damn - I need to get a new project car. I'm itching to build one from scratch again. Seeing cars like this one, Terry's, Derrick's etc., really makes me impatient!

John, I knew it was you but I must admit I'm surprised. Are you building it up to race against 'racer' when he gets out this year?

I think it'll be quite hard to contain your desire to go extreme with everthing now that you've experienced the 'other' side' with high power and roadholding.

Perhaps rebuild it as it was i.e. a 'period', 'garden shed' modified car? And I agree don't go overboard on the paint if you want to 'use' it as intended. Built like that the cost should be reasonable.

Not sure which way to go with paint. Both in colour choice and wheather to do it myself. The problem with paying to have it painted is that I will be less inclined to drive the car and take it on track. My theory is that the better a car looks, the less you want to track it and Zed's need to go round the track.

tbh I think the same. I would feel safe (like ya do) but not sure about the guy ragging it behind me, so doubt I would use mine on an open track.
Straight line is fine lol :D

Yes it was quicker than my Sam it still haunts me to this day.

Despite you having the go faster stripes and FRP spoilers on the Sam:p.

If I am not mistaken the Sam was a stripped out racer whilst Steve's car was effectively a fast road spec so that margin could have been even more:eek::smash:

Fond memories for sure

Be good to see both these cars racing against each other once again

Am sure that the Sam weight was more than a standard S30 all the spoilers we're made from metal and the rear tail gate would take two people to lift !!!!

I can still remember the weekend I had broken a diff that morning at the Pod and Kevin Irons had to bring me his spare over and me and Mark Rayner had it changed and were back racing in the afternoon.

I still hold the World Record of the quickest 1/4 mile Sam.

I'm hopeing to have it back on the strip latter this year so maybe this will inspire a few of the old racers, along with some new ones to join me. We should bring back Santa Pod as a place for Z club meets as well as somewhere to have a bit of competertive fun.

Picking up the shell on Friday to get straight into prepping for paint. I'll then start a build thread when I've got some pics to post.

L series Pod racing Eh, s'pose I had better keep that old blue one, sure I bought a new camshaft a while ago, better get searching for some lash pads and new rockers now

I had better start having a sweep up then ;)

Not unless you can get it into the 12's which by the way will be the same day that beelzeebub buys a snowboard

The shell will be there from mid morning Friday along with a few other panels. Not sure how long it will take to collect the contents of a container.
