Might be 'in' but I've also been offered a seat in the support vehicle for my old car.

Following the Historic is certainly something I'd like to do.

I wonder if they will ever update the eligible cars list, it would be nice to see a 260Z or even a 280ZX in it

Only two Datsuns in it this year. Very few entries for the Glasgow start too.

My old car is number 9 (out of 300) - he seems chuffed. Car 8 is driven by Jean Ragnotti so he's in good company. Jean has won the Monte and Tour de Corse' outright.

What are your plans, Rob?
We have the Friday in Reims to have a look at the cars starting from Reims (all day at the Exhibition center), and then we wait for Zak coming from Glasgow. Departure from Reims between 7h00 and 9h00 pm.
We then drive to Langres and join the other friends around 11h00 pm, have a chat with drivers and wait for the other 240Z coming from Oslo. Departures for all cars from Langres between midnight and 2h15 am Saturday.
We then drive back to Reims and probably stay on the saturday together for a Champagne cellar visit...
All together, we should be around 10 Datsun-France members...
Should I count you in?

Very tempting Hubert, thank you for the invite but not this year sorry.

Zak the driver who has my 'old' car is Number 9 and has asked me to advertise the fact that he would like to meet Z enthusiasts again:

Hi Robert
Can you add on forum for me that i will be in Glasgow on 23 Jan all day until start with over 100 other cars, so if there is any other Z Enthusiast there or any in Dover as we will be sleeping there and leaving on the 24 Jan at 11.30 on train it would be good to meet other members.

All my best
Zak

Met up with Zak and my old car today. It is so good knowing that it has gone to a great home and that Zak has exactly the same feeling about the car as I had. He is a total Z convert now, he loves the way they drive but also the fact that this old girl just 'delivers' more than she should.

Andrew, I've told Zak that you might see him on Thursday.

The rally finished in the early hours of this morning. So that's driving on 7 days from Thursday evening leaving Glasgow.

Zak in my old 240 finished in 153rd place. The other 240Z (Swedish crew, Stockholm start) finished 148th. 310 started and 257 finished. It seems to have become a very popular event. There were 5 Porsche 911s in the top 10 but an Opel Kadett GTE won. Very few Escorts were entered and only a handful of English competitors.

My perception is that on this event the skill of the crew is more important than the car - which I suppose is how it should be. Navigation and timekeeping are very important but of course so is keeping the car on the mountain roads in the snow and ice.

Rob, it's a regularity event, so having a navigator who can keep you on the right road and within a second or so of the right time is the most important thing, from memory they use transponders which are constantly sending your GPS location to the organisers, so there is nowhere to hide :)

A lot of the competitors usually say F**k It and just enjoy having a thrash up a Col :)

Hey Rob a pic and mention of your old car in Classic Motor Weekly.

I don't know that publication Andrew I'll look for it. I saw Classic Car Weekly yesterday and the front of my car was shown behind a Hillman Imp, but no mention. The press tend to focus on classic British cars tbh.
