I've just bought a 260z 2+2. It seems to have quite a lot done to it but I think the owner decided to move on to the next project!
It has a turbo fitted with Minow-fish carbs which I guess isn't standard.
Does anyone know of any specialists in the Bromley area who can help me out with servicing/maintainence etc.
Any info would greatly appreciated.

welcome to the Z CLUB forum.
will you be posting some pic's of your car and turbo setup as there will proberly be some people interested in that.

Thanks I'll give them a go. And yes it was the one on ebay. What's the deal with the minnow-fish then!!

Hi Rob
I'm taking it to Four Ways today for them to give it the once over but I don't really know what my plans are yet. I think I'll wait and see what needs doing!!!

had my car restored by fourways, finally finished Nov 03, they had it for about two and a half years
because i could'nt afford to pay for it all at once and it went into storage several times:(
As far as the welding, mechanicals and interior were concerned they were excellent but the respray wasn't as good as i was expecting:mad:
To be fair it wasn't a complete bare metal job but for £3500 for that alone, it could of been better:eek:
plus i think they were sick of the sight of it after 2 and half years!
I would definately recommend them but their not cheap and make sure you know exactly what your getting for the money.
By the way i'm just round the corner from you and i have a now purple 2+2 ;) weird or what!
perhaps we could meet up at some point

Happy zedding, Anthony

Give Gary Bellamy a call re the respray. He does a very good job. Tell him exactly what you need done, and even better take it over so he can have a look. He's in Lincs. Tel no is 01529 241474. He did my 260 which is in the 260 gallery on page four.

lozloz, how did you get on with fourways! :D

nigel Brook, yeah i know cheap it ain't, won't be falling into that one again!

Just for interest, what sort of figure would people expect to pay for a bare metal respray,
or as i need now a tidy and touch up.

Toopy - the costs of a Bare metal Respray are about 120 hours of skilled labour ( around £26/£28/hr ), plus paint & materials - around £600-£700 ), making it about the £4,000 mark.

This is without factoring in the costs of any Restoration/repair work to the bodyshell & panels ( i.e. cutting out & replacing any corrosion/damage to what we find when all paint is removed ).

Remember, you tend to get what you pay for in life, and a cheap & quick Respray is just that - it will last a few weeks before any corrosion & moisture in the original paint etc., will come through, just like Teenage Acne !

Paint & Underseal are a great camouflage for anything nasty lying underneath - you just don't know what you are going to find until you strip it all down to bare metal, which is a long job.

Owners of the Classics you see in the Magazines and at the big Shows won't want to tell you how much they paid for the Paint job ( in case the Wife finds out ! ), but the finished result should be better than new Cars in the Showrooms nowadays ( see the 'Orange Peel' in every new car's paintwork ).

Toopy:
Fourways still has it at the moment. Found quite a few bits and pieces as to be expected but so far nothing too major. Famous last words!!!

It isn't just the paint you have to be careful about!

Z Farm, 90% of the paint work is fine and there' no corrosion to worry about that's all been sorted.
There's just a few bits i'm not happy with, probably only a few days work, week at the most in professional hand's :(

We seem to have Hijacked Loz's subject matter, here, a bit !

Don't want to tout for Business, either, on the Club's pages, but if you need a few ideas on the best course of treatment for the Bodywork on your Z, call me on 01845 587100 for some impartial advice.
We're booked up with Bodywork until late Autumn or so, I promise it won't be a 'Selling' call !

Thanks for the offer, i'm well aware of your excellent reputation in Z circle's
only thing is i was hoping to get the paint done in the next couple of months :p
You may well still get a phonecall in the mean time for that 'impartial advice' though :D
