Oh yeah, forgot to ask. Mckinney motorsports, who are they and what have they built for you?

mckinney motorsportsvare based over in the usa, ive uploaded a picture of what they should look like there made by Megan and i think there for a s13 with weld on camber plates and a mechined bottom weld on sleeve, it was a toss up between these and the arizona set up, also got my carbon fiber zg flares on order from the zstore so they should be here soon,

then i can start mocking up the engine and gearbox mounts, and where the seat rails/mounts need to go then i can finish doing the cage, still need to put in the harness bar and the diagonals door the door shuts

Cool they look really nice. I went for the Arizona set up myself. Not that I've tried them yet, may be later this year.

Nice work so far.

The Mckinney coilovers aren't from an S13, they are built by Megan specifically for the S30 afaik. I'm currently looking for a coilover setup and haven't decided what to use, I woukld really like whatever I use to be dual perch though. I looked at the Mckinney setup but I'm not sure how good Megan coilovers are, likewise the AZC setup looks good but I'm not sure how good the shocks in them are and its important to have a good shock. I'm considering making my own using a brand of coilover I know to be good.

pulled the 1j out today and gave it a quick clean off nice easy little job, im going back out the workshop tomorrow to take the twin turbo's off as they offend me and make way for the big single,

im going to rebuild the engine before its on the road so just for mocking up purposes im going to bolt up my big single exhaust manifold and bolt on my massive intake manifold with 100mm throttle body so i can have a idea of where everything is going to go

The main problem I had with mounting the engine low enough was with the stearing rack. This sits quite high in relation to the crossmember. My sump has 3mm clearance(was less) and ideally I should have lowered the rack or maybe converter to a more common rear rack. You may want to look into this before you decide on engine location.

I had notice you don't have a Soarer r154. Do you know what it's from? I was pretty lucky with mine as it fitted perfect.

Your making good progress so keep it up.

mines from a supra so i had to buy a bellhousing to make it fit, i looked at the rack last night but only quickly as it was relay late and looked abit of a tight fit i was going to measur it up properly today, whats this rear rack you speak off is it something you reckon i would benifit from doing???

Mark,

Ive got a 7M-GTE in my 260z and plan on doing the 1jz soarer swap, excuse my ignorance but what bellhousing do I need to look out for to make it fit?

I mentioned rear rack because I thought it would be a good way of getting someone with good engineering skills to do some hard work for me and work out if it's possible :).

The background to this goes something like this:

Terry has been converting a front crossmember for me to use the Subaru power stearing rack. When I went to look at it I noticed it sits higher than the z rack( which isn't a problem with an l series) and I was hoping to make it lower for more clearance. So, that's been put on hold for a bit. After doing a bit of research I find most racks are now rear mounted and as there is room at the back of the crossmember then that may be an option.

I enjoy a dit of lateral thinking and exploring different option because this is how things evolve. On this occasion though, after a bit more though, I think this is a dead end. Too many issues like stearing angle, knuckles, and tie rods in the way. I'll await for you to come up with a solution:rolleyes:
