1971 240z Race car

Yes interesting. It could be a bit of fun on trackdays. It still has basic braking, however it is adjustable F/R.

VIN picture is enlightening ;-)

It's a bit of a strange spec for me - where would it fit as a competitive racecar in this country?

From previous research you would end up being in a pretty uncompetitive category for racing.

Pre66 is where all the fun is at and they won’t be moving the date line as there is already so much demand for entry to races.

Was probably more eligible in the states but probably most fun rallying.

It wouldn't however there are various EEC race-weekends in which it would be accepted - otherwise, there are plenty of open pit-road trackdays available everywhere to forget about work and the office for a day !

Nice one Alan, thanks.

A lot of "works" in the Bonhams' advert text....any particular competition history from this car ?

Nothing as far as I am aware.

The car was being sold at Bonhams (in 2005) as part of the 'Arthur Carter Collection'. The Zs in that collection had been sold to Arthur Carter by Jonathan Bradburn (ref Bradburn Brothers). Part of a bigger story.

There had been an attempt to mock up the standard UK market HS30-prefixed Datsun 240Z wearing the reg 'WRA 94K' as one of the Works rally cars, but just before the Bonhams auction the *questionable* firewall chassis number was ground off. The Bonhams auction description urged prospective buyers to do their own due diligence, of course.

There were indeed a few ex-Works parts attached to the car and - in the way of these things - they were subsequently liberated and are now in safer hands.

Thanks - yes and even now the auctineers caveat reads like a minefield....still could be an inexpensive entry into classic racing or 'merely' a fun track-day car.....are those kit-car seats really FIA homologated ?

Yes, but it's optional and more money on an already expensive seat....

What’s a kit car seat?
