UK 260Z 2 seater for sale

Here you go - this was present on both sides, looks to run from side window to hinge area. Given a full bare metal respray in 2021, I really didn’t expect this.
I’m conscious that this has probably hijacked the thread of a different car now tho; I’m so sorry!
If anyone is local ish to Reading and would come with me to view and advise again that would be awesome, Altho I guess unlikely.

Could it be where a new roof panel has been installed? I know there was a bad sunroof previously.

That looks awful up close. Looks like the filler wasn't sanded down smooth enough before paint - can see all the scouring lines in it. It does look like the spot we were referring to where the lead should be.

As for that dark patch above the window.. no idea.

I’m in Swindon and happy to help where I can but I’m no expert rather an owner who has watched over a major Resto. I’m very happy for you to come and see mine and I can fill you in on my experiences if that helps

Yes, and at the top front corners of the windscreen. Have a look at the Project Dixie thread and you’ll see me doing the leading work on all six spots.

Thought so. I had rust around that spot, with some (apparently factory) sort of sealer over it, then the lead underneath.

Ack! All that lead needs digging out and the rust dealing with. Don’t sand the lead though - not something you want to breathe in!

I did indeed sand some of it with an angle grinder before I realised there was some lead there - however I was wearing a full face P3 mask with brand new filters, so hopefully that's not me dead! I'll leave the other side to the paint shop..

Lead work is enjoyable to do when it’s mastered. I did some on an MGB I restored in the 80s - I never mastered it but what I did was good enough back then. It shapes nicely and easily enough with an assortment of rasps and files …

These must have all been done by hand at the factory I presume (they were to cover up spotwelded joints between panels)

I think it was to cover up brazed joints like rear quarter to roof?

The car in the original post is now at £17,300.

Hope it found a good home with someone capable of doing things themselves to make it a reasonably commercially viable purchase.

Would be interesting to see if the car / new owner turns up here and what the true condition of the vehicle is when they peel back the covers.

Just randomly saw this on youtube - the owner of the white 260z that was on ebay recently for 22k put this up. Not sure why he hasn't put it on his listing here, but here it is anyway:

When I spoke to him last it wasn’t running. He was still waiting for parts to fix it.
When was that video taken?

Who knows.. But it was uploaded 4 days ago. Doesn't mean it was filmed then of course. Did it have the gold cam cover on when you saw it?

Yeah the gold cover has been on for a while. The video of the engine with the black cover is apparently the same engine, but he does have 2 engines with the car.

He said he’d be in contact with me once it’s all up and running for another look. But haven’t heard back since.
