I've got too many engines in bits around the place so I thought I'd put my old L24 back together and try to sell it.
It's going to be a big bore L26 so I can use up a set of stock L28 pistons.

Should be good for more than 200 bhp when I've done it since it made 190 as a 2.4.
I have got a spare 280 crank, but it goes with my spare f54 block and they're backups for my current engine. I thought a revvy 2.6 would be fun.Have you got a 280 crank you could use or do you specifically want a 2.6?

Also the head going on it has 35.5cc chambers so CR is a bit too much with a 2.8.
The indicator problem is almost certainly the switch needing a clean, it's a simple job, I managed it successfully last week! There's even a video on YouTube of someone showing the process.Well, end of the first week of owning "Audrey" (I know, not an original name!)
So far, I have change the oil and filter, rebuilt and re-sprayed the mirrors and refitted them to the car. I discovered the real reason they were removed from the car was that the mounts were broken. One of the "rods" which pulled through the spring had become twisted and shorter than the other one, the other side had a missing part. Couple of hours bench time and they are now back on the car. I also discovered that the headlights were not working, but the fuses were fine, I took one apart and bulb was fine, then I discovered that the dip beam is fine but up beam is not but does come on when the flasher is pressed. Any ideas why the up beam is not working but it does on the flasher?
With regard to indicators, the left is working fine but the right is only sometimes working so driving it this week has been a mix of left stick and right hand out of the window. I guess this may be the switch in the steering column needs a contact clean - any ideas?
Rev counter is also intermittently working, could this be a connection? It drives lovely though although from the smell of it, it may be running a bit rich...
there is a backlog at the DVLA registering my camper import took 4 months... hopefully getting better nowGot round to sending off documents to the DVLA to apply for road tax exemption. The guidance on how to do it from the GOV.UK site is pretty vague.
It basically says:
"Apply at a Post Office that deals with vehicle tax.
You need to take:
The problem is when you get to the post office counter, they don't know what to do with it. There does not seem to be an internal from they have to complete, so I got a couple of "computer says no"...
- the log book (V5C) in your name
- your vehicle tax reminder letter (V11), if you have one
- an MOT certificate that’s valid when the tax starts, or evidence if your vehicle’s exempt from an MOT (V112)
- an insurance certificate or cover note (only in Northern Ireland)"
However, the chap I got at the THIRD Post Office I tried seemed to get what I was after, and was very helpful. He said he would send them off for me that evening. Fingers crossed I will get new paperwork in due course, I believe it can take up to 6 weeks.
