Yes it was Sean. Took it to my local body shop before Christmas. It's in final stages. Ready in a month.

It's had bare metal. Very pleased to say there was no corrosion at all with the car. You never know until you strip it right back. The body shop has done a great job. Very pleased with it so far. It'll look fab when it gets its gloss top coat.

Looking good! Are you going base and clear or full gloss topcoat for 918?

Is it me or at least the engine bay is 110 red...not 918 ?

Sean this is a really genuine rust-free RHD car like mine. Gary has decided to respray it to make it 'fresh' and 'show standard' but it could have been left - it was that good.

A lovely 'honest' car.

I believe you - just that the engine-bay photo doesn't show off the 918 too well - maybe the light available ?

Now painted

Out of paint now. Still lots of putting back together - about 2 weeks to completion.

Wow. Will you look to take the engine out at some point to redo the bay?

Are you fitting the original stuff to the outside or new/revamped etc?

I don't think I'm going to touch the engine bay. Just compound and polish.

I want to re-use as much of the original as possible. It's in great condition. I'm ok with a look that is not concours. A bit of wear and tear is ok for me.

The car is now back from the paint shop and fully reassembled. I'm delighted with the end product.

Photo library taken to show each step.

I'm glad I went for bare metal - no engine bay. It looks unrestored, which is what I wanted.

Any suggestions on where to take it to join fellow members? A show or something?

Looks really good Gary.

Tatton Park is next weekend - you might be too late for a 'Club' position though?

Thanks Rob. 6 months in the making. Glad to have it back. Props haft next little job, the balancing.

I also fitted yesterday the steering coupling rubber to plastic thing - which has sharpened up the steering.

I'm on holiday next weekend... August events? I'm tempted to take it to Classic Le Mans.
