That's assuming it is distributor that is at fault. I rather suspect it's fuel related.
Might be able to help you with bits for a zx dizzy, module, coil, magnet.

is it quite expensive of a job, his listing says hes got a engine rebuilt and i am guessing they probably put new clutch seals and stuff. i am looking to buy this but hoping on not to spend to much on the egine just incase there is more rust or something wrong with the body, ive tried looking up the spec on this, is it a 2.8l petrol 182bhp. is it quite easy to find body kits and stuff on this.

1981 DATSUN 280 ZX TARGA BY NISSAN BLACK on eBay (end time 05-Jun-10 20:08:00 BST)

Is this the the fourth Kaminari or Trevor Rainers old car
Theres my 2 seater

The other 2 seater that was being done up on here and caught fire

Trevor Rainers black 2+2 that was on ebay and was in a bad way someone told me who viewed it and thought it was being was scrapped
The discription of this sounds a bit like Trevor's as it had the same wheels and had a engine worked on by fourways

Mr F any ideas on this as mine was yours back in ancient times

The black car is almost certainly Trevor Rainer's 2+2 resurrected - the wheels are the same and the giveaway is the quad spotlight treatment in the front valence.

At the current price it would be worth it to strip the kit off and start again if it is too rusty underneath. Back in the day the kit was £2500 alone before fitting and painting.

The Kaminari set in the U.K. consisted of five cars if I remember correctly:
Mine (which is now Steve Burns') was the first
Trevor's 2+2 was second
There was another 2+2 done up north (a white car I think) which I've never seen again
A 2 seater with targa roof conversion, done by the guy who painted mine and then passed through various hands in Essex including Rob Henshaw when he took over ZXtra. This is the car that caught fire and is no more...
Another 2 seater which (I think) ended up in Weston-Super-Mare the last I heard of it...

All the kits were imported direct from Kaminari and sold by the Z Club Parts Department or by me personally and between Ken Chelton and myself, the builds were all done using parts / services which we supplied apart from the missing white one (??).

Even more rare in the U.K. are the 2 seater IMSA kit cars:
My blue car which still resides in my garage
The clone of my blue car which became the "Yellow Peril" - now gone or hidden away somewhere (??)
The black car built by Luke at the Z Centre, never made it onto the road and now in my garage waiting for the sale to be finalised which will see it disappear to Trinidad.

The moulds for this kit are still in my possession, including a 2+2 version which has never been built...

There's Kaminari full fender kits - the cars listed above - and Kaminari Aero kits like yours.
The Aero kit is an add-on front and rear valence, skirts and rear spoiler - the same characteristic rear spoiler is used on both. The full fender kit involves complete front wings / cowls, a matted in front valence, rear arches cut out and large fender and door overlays blended into the original metal.

The full fender kits are all original Kaminari but the Aero kits got "copied" and now replicas are available. Also, for a period of time, the rear spoiler was being reproduced in this country so some of those are also not original Kaminari. I can't remember if your car was original Kam or copyKam...??

i just came across this, is there a big difference in body wise from a 240 to a 280zx. is it even possible to get hold of this body kit. if i had to buy that car on the first post, can someone quote me a price for a recondition or rebuilt of a whole engine or might just even get a different engine in there and the body kit like this

Earlier cars were 140bhp/149ft/lbs torque...later facelift cars were 150bhp/163ft/lbs in the UK....you're quoting US market figures??!:p

Brian Long quotes 140 and an increase of 5bhp from 1982 with an increased comp. ratio for all export markets except that of the US.

But your papers' quote of almost 40mpg......what a wonder car the 280ZX is !

Brian Long also says in the section titled Britains last 280ZXs....." Power had increased during 1982 thanks to a hike in compression ratio, which boosted maximum output to 150bhp (111.9kW)...." :smash:

That's a copy of the Uk 1983 280ZX brochure....You can't believe Government fuel figures can you??
