Trackdays, a worrying trend....discuss

At least you and the few enjoy the track days Jon,most on here are not interested as stated, got my Zed how I wanted it so as to do track days in a fast Zed ,then bang ,me eye goes pop so have to be a bit carefull at speed, not sure if I would be allowed to go round at high speeds due to being classed as disabled which I find I am discriminated against,so I will carry on doing the country lane driving which can be a bit scary at times

It's safer on track than country lanes Status. I remember you didn't want to do Le Mans in 2008 even though you were there with your car..

Ali, The car has just been featured on an album by a band called BushFieldSmith and is even credited on the sleeve notes :)/QUOTE]

Pictures please ?

Loud Ali but high in the frequency range I think - perso, I prefer lower.

She is on the raspy end of the scale but the bass component never carries well on the iPhone microphone.

Definitely not one for full throttle past a police car!!! ;)

Sadly, this is something that I have fallen foul of a few times now. My GTR is quite quiet on static tests, 90db as tested at Castle Combe, Thruxton and Goodwood. However, Goodwood has a driveby limit of 96db and on a flat out lap I got flagged at 104db :D sounded good! Fortunately they were keen to keep me going round, so pointed out the locations and asked me to short shift.

Places like Brands Hatch are a lot more strict on the rules.... hence why the GTR has never been around it.

I didn't do le-man Rob cos I thought it was a bit on the expensive side and my exhaust was hanging off,do you remember.if you get up early enough you can have fun as we have some good roads round here

Dean has a rebello engine with one of Sean's exhausts. Although this exhaust would never pass a track noise test, with the addition of a bolt on noise suppressor, it does just just get through the test. It can be a bit of an issue on the drive by though.

I have some home built L28 engine with one of Seans early exhaust on, no tracks like me at all, spent head first in a few bins finding coke cans to insert into the exhaust tail pipe followed by a bolt on noise damper just get through, now the dual M3 system will need some serious work to get down to required levels :(

Old school track day in a Z
This is a real treat. Sod any health & safety. Forget insurance, helmets, rollbars etc
Was this for real?

Bit like the 'Club' laps at the Spa and Le Mans Classics!

I liked the bit about 3/4 way through where the commentator said that the Mustang driver was sitting in the middle holding everyone up 'a bit like drivers on the two-lane section of the M1'. Middle of a two-lane section?

Entertaining and madness.

So who's purple Z was it on track? I bet it didn't belong to anyone on here :D

Gaz you forgot the smell mate. Gotta love the smell at the track

Purple Z ? Did you mean in the UK race ?

Just as a matter of interest, I HAVE begun the development of a quieter rear silencer specifically for track-days such as this - bolt-on/bolt-off.
I expect it to be comfortably under 94dbs to be safe upon every occasion.....without any decrease in performance of course !
