Hi,
Did anyone see Top Gear tonight?... Clarkson was racing the Bullet Train with a Nissan GTR!
At one point he overtook a white 300ZX Z32 on the motorway to Tokyo!....Looked like a '99 spec car, but you only saw it briefly.
In the regular feature on useless/pointless road signs, there was one for a 'Secret Nuclear Bunker' at Kelvedon Hatch!....Is that where Mike stores his parts!:D

yeah I seen that too, looking forward to seeing the gtr around the track.........

hehe great show... despite all the digs at datsun!

Clarkson almost liked the car! And that alfa, what a stunner! Shame its wasn't a dry track!

DAMNIT. missed it again

Here's episode 4 on the BBC i player.....http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cl43b

The war with Nissan continues - why go to the trouble of getting an old Datsun in to make the lame joke about the "updated version"? Pathetic.

What sort of a test of the GTR is driving on the motorways - the mountain road section at the end was the only true test of its abilities.

BTW, found this quote which I didn't know about:
"it was revealed that the GPS system fitted to the GT-R would remove the 180-kilometer per hour (112 mph) speed limiter when the car arrives at a race track, but only on tracks approved by Nissan".

wooohooooo I knew I'd seen one but hubbie didn't believe me silly men lol

and we recorded it as we where at the cinema. Bit disappointed as he'd not set it up correctly and we missed the end top gear:(

Clarkson was and will always remain a w*nker and probably the only reason he drove on the M-way was that he can't exploit it in the mountains - nor could we but he has his image to think of - burning rubber on an airfield is something else again !

As you say - pathetic but he is a journalist and they change the facts to support their idea of a 'good' story ! One day, they love the 350Z, the next it's too heavy and the RX-8 is more practical 'cos you can get 4 people init; anotherd ay and they'll say that only a true 2 seater is a sports-car.........

Quote I had from a friend who's a Nissan concessionaire in Belgium....ok, it's Benjamin Miroux whom I met at Le Mans this weekend : he's sold 4 already and there are already 1200 sold in the UK !

he is a journalist
no he isn't he is an entertainer, therefore facts do not matter

towards the end going up the mountain he kind of said it was good - but come on did anyone really expect him to be singing the praises of a Nissan? The piece was more about the race not the car.

Roll on the track session and lets see what the Stig can do with it

.....let's see what the Stig could do with a modded L series 240Z.........that would upset some 'modern-car' owners !

No Suzy, he's a w*nker - I met him in '92 at the NEC (I even took part in the little scene at the end whenh he drives off in an Honda red S800 convertible) when he walked past the stand, slagged us off and I retorted that we'd held the first Japanese sportscar day at Goodwood that summer - he retorted by saying that it must have been the worlds' worst attended event.
Look at the Jap scene now to see who was wrong !

Yes he's funny - the desert trip they made was great !

BUT, he's an ignorant man and doesn't want to be educated - he's like a Breton here, laway right even when he's wrong and I can't stand his staid opinion of Datsuns when they've done so much the world over. If he was just limited to UK cars, I could understand his limited attitude but he claims to be a world reference on every car made !

Can't have his cake and eat it in my opinion !

A jag can do no wrong....even when it becomes a Ford, diesel and an estate and 4x4 just like every other manufacturer - Nissan could produce the best thing on four wheels (haven't they already) and it's glitzy, not practical, cheap plastic interior......anything but the truth.

Biased ? No................

Hi,
In next week's show Clarkson does drive the GTR around a Japanese test track,so perhaps we shall get to see more of the car's abilities?

I seriously doubt it - the car is well above HIS abilities to drive IT !

I thought that the whole point of the GTR was that anyone can drive it quickly, due to the technology?....I expect when the Stig drives it he will be told to slow down anyway, so that a mere Datsun isn't fastest round the Top Gear track!

arrr, got me there didn't you ? But since Clodson isn't happy unless there's loads of oversteer and tyre smoke............

I think that most long term members of this Club would agree that Clarkson is a W£nker...As he has embarrassed and humiliated some of the members on more than one occasion!

He seems obsessed with Mercedes Benz for some reason? ...but obviously has some sort of hang up when it comes to Nissans?

The race was obviously staged and unfortunately didn't really tell us anything about the new GTR, but then Top Gear isn't really a motoring programme any more!

I watched another episode of 'his' prgramme tonight on Sky and there he was driving a 4x4 Jag estate in the snow and slush saying that he could happily drive like that at 60 mph, doing embroidery..........where does 'his' responsibility start and stop ?

All those people now in 4x4s have 'his' go ahead to drive completely irresponsably because those people know that they are safe (and HE slags off Volvo drivers) - a completely selfish attitude and teaching others to follow his suit !

People should boycott his programmes and watch his disappear into obscurity like most other 'stars' and let some more open-minded people present real motoring programmes.

I know that I sound like an old fuddy duddy but the mane is a w*nker and I can't forgive him for unfairly slagging off datsuns and Jap. cars in general when HE know in his haeart that they are superior !
