This should be interesting

The blue ex-Texas one has been delivered this morning. It is a 280, as suspected although it was described as a 260.
Overall pretty sound, between showers I've been over it and the worst place is under the battery tray. There are a couple of small spots on the A post one side and B on the other, both look to be where the seal has held moisture. The spare wheel well looks crusty, probably worse under the sound deadening.

On the positive side the floors, sills, wings - inner and outer, chassis rails etc all look good. The doors feel lovely along the bottoms but the tailgate need some attention, it may have had some damage on the bottom edge at some point.
Interior trim is pretty good, wheels are tidy but hideous.

So not unhappy at that price.

Now to decide what to do with this and the 2+2

I had some time yesterday so decided to have a look to see if there was a reason the engine had been part stripped. Long story short, No1 exhaust valve seat had let go. The big difference in the cam follower adjustment was a clue that something was going on in that area.

This will now get tucked away and I can acquire bits and pieces for it as and when and in the meantime I'll carry on with the 2+2 resto or until another seems a bargain too good to resist !

Racer, I find up loading pictures rather hit and miss, so the easy way is on Flickr;
