Just read your whole build thread Wyn and looks like you've ended up with a really lovely car! Hopefully get to see it in the flesh at a meet or something in the near future.

Been following Ian's car for a while on one of the Honda forums and love that car also.

Ive just bought a 240Z after wanting one for many years but she needs a bit of TLC. Rust free though, thats the main thing!

I've always wanted to RB swap a 240 and wondering if you'd both reckon its worth doing that from the off or putting it off untill later? How much would you say the cost is to get a standard RB into the car and running?

imo do it now or you will only pay twice
Mine started as a std L series 2.6/2.8 thing that I spent time on, only to junk the lot a few yrs later n go down the RB route
If you have a bare engine bay start with the RB n save yourself a lot of time n money
Assuming you want it that way and don't mind a non std car

Cant see anyone looking back to be honest, unless you have an ultra std car that's worth keeping that way ?

My cars got an L28 with the 5 speed box and not a lot else! Has been sat in the back of a unit for 20 odd years so its rust free but needs assembly and a new lease of life.

The engine runs and drives but the carbs need cleaning and setting up, along with the choke cables setting up and a few other odd bits.

Not sure how much my engine and gearbox are worth? Maybe its worth getting a donor R33 GTST or something and just pinching 90% of the parts from that?

Great, welcome to Z ownership.

It probably going to be cheaper to do it from the off although you could do what I did and sort the suspension, brakes and chassis first because you don't want to go fitting an RB without uprating everything else.

Mine cost me a lot but if I'd kept it all stock (engine, turbos, wiring, ECU and so on) I could have done it for much cheaper. Cheapest way is to use an RB25 and get an R33 GTS-T and use it as a donor.

Without a doubt as you will want all the little bits you never think of when you only have an engine and box sat there.

The thing is turning into a taxi
I took it out the other day and ended up giving rides to peeps that wanted to see what it went like.
Glad to say no one seemed disappointed :)
Even ended up in MK on Sunday night for the local (boy racer) get together
Was nice to see so many peeps compliment the z over the plastic fantastic that was on show

Given the reaction to mine even when on low boost theres no way even an experienced petrol head could be disappointed in yours.

Yes I've seen Derricks 260 and imo he must be off his rocker to repair that lol :D

I must admit mine almost caught me out today
Gave it large in 3rd whilst pulling out to overtake up an incline and the thing spun up and stepped out
If it had been wet it would of half expected it, but this was in the dry on a warm day
Certainly didn't expect that and only just missed the car I was overtaking

Need to get me a sticker - Proceed with caution :D
