Nice one ! Know what you mean about brakes.......

Any 'over'-heatings symptoms such as modded. Zeds are born to suffer ?

The last picture posted of the engine bay shows the air filter still mounted on the end of the airflow meter,:conf2: any plans to utilise the hole in the radiator support directly in front of it,and get the filter out front where it can suck some cold air??
The increase in power could surprise.

There is indeed a plan to get the air in from in front of the radiator. It's a shame the original got cut down. I might try and find one on the Pistonheads forum or fabricate my own.

That along with all the other plans.....uprating brakes, fitting harness's, maybe a roll cage!

This was somewhat helped by the fact that the Datsun rev counter reads 4500 whilst the TVR engine is probably only doing 3500. Shhhhhh!

Very cunning! I feel some special 'mods' coming on for any future trackday car I have :p

It hasn’t been cut down, or at least that’s where the metering unit would normally sit ish ;)
The “air filter” tho should sit on another "extended intact pipe" that should join it infrt of the rad, only I never got that far.
hths :D

Sorry, that's what I meant by cut down. I need to fab a pipe from the metering unit down to the front end.

I thought you might be interested to read about the guys I'm going to see in my local town on Saturday. They're called TVR Craft and they're experts at big output TVR engines. Going to have a chat about a possible supercharging route!!. Their website is:

You could always do an L6 conversion to get decent 1/4 times :D

My man  ! Bit drastic though, unheard of - an L6 conversion ? Isn't it too long ? Wouldn't the last two cylinders overheat ? What about vibration control ? Nah, if Nissan designed the car for one, they'd have put one in.........

And get rid of the noise???!! I don't know if any of you have heard this car properly in the flesh but it's quite something else. We'll see what supercharger man has to say.

Oh and Sean, I'm toying with the idea of a track day in Northern France at Croix en Ternois, your neck of the woods?

tssss :p

Indeed as you cross the line you could use it as an anchor to slow you down, no need for that brake upgrade then :D

Its a small track with a fair bit of grass and Armaco.a little twisty bit and a very short straight so no big speeds. Plus points its in France so no noise regs when I last went, good food and cheap.

How big is that engine - 4.0 litre ? For 240 bhp ?

And I have heard the engine, Wyn knows, I even have a small video of it - very, very nice..............but you haven't heard mine yet - 3.1 litre and 260 bhp !

I have no idea where Croix en Ternois is, but since I'm in Western France, it's probably at least 7 hours drive away ! When, how's it organised and what are the restrictions/requirements ? Maybe I'll come up !

Bhp is not the be all and end all. Gimmeeeee torque. Do you both have the figures? That tells a much better story

Don't get me wrong Sean, im not knocking what you have, but I can remember Honda producing bikes years ago that had red lines of around 20k, great BHP but wrong gear would mean forget pulling out of a corner and it would bog down, just like a two stroke.

It would be great to see both sides in a comparrison, oh and all up weight of the car too!:D

Torque ? I dunno, I have no figures - ring up Dave for that if you like. I don't really care about the BHP figure either, it works or it doesn't and my car'll pull a tractor - yes, it has torque, fudding bundles of it ;)

Sides ? This is no competition, besides, not being mean, but my car's not just the engine, everything else has been 'improved' so wouldn't be a fair 'fight' !

Mine has a shift light set at 6300 and a cut-out at 6500 - don't need more, it's just wearing the engine out !

Ok, my book says Griffith 4.0, 240bhp at 6250rpm and a monster 270ft lb of torque at a mere 2600rpm. Thats BIG! More than enough to produce good 1/4 mile times.
Surely the best mod would be the Griiff 500 motor? I know they've got a wopping 340bhp! MENTAL!!!

I feel my torque (and honestly, you'd have to ask Dave how much) comes in at about 3000 rpm and stays there - no flat spots !

I've been in a Griffith and it is mental but almost undriveable !
