I would like to upgrade the headlights to HID, upgrade the clutch with a performance clutch kit and find a nice set of old school 15 or 16" wheels (let me know if you have any!) ;)

Now the car is on the road, new year's resolution is to drive it more and get to more meets.:driving:

Happy new year to all...
280zx repainted summer 2010 and new 18" rims fitted need to finish 4.3 diff and T5 gearbox install ( proving more tricky than I first thought) Hope to sell in the summer of 2011 watch for classifieds...
350 now finished except for abs sensor and TCS sensor. Brakes look amazing, suspension works a treat on these roads and saves ware and tear on the custom front splitter... Pics coming soon...

Peter - you fitting a resistor to up the assistance when you want it more ?
Sean yes i got a control unit off of ebay a while back, according to the seller its adjustable but talked to a fella in the pub over the christmas who'd used simular system on escorts and the like, informed me that the power steering is either on or its off with no middle ground. so i'll have to see how that works out for me

Z32 - No plans other than to enjoy driving it in the summer.
Z31 - Many plans - rust removal/prevention, fix clunky suspension, general tidy up and maybe source new roof seals to prevent "wet-arse" syndrome on rainy days, Perhaps a respray, depending on funds, (the umpteen shades of white are starting to piss me off.)

Gonna be a busy year, I have promised myself Clive Raynor's old S12 will be on the road this year at some point, one resolution I do not want to break.

Dep what type control box you have bought the steering assistance will be fully adjustable at the turn of a screw
btw, a fella in a diffo pub to yours told me that ;)

Happy new year everyone.

Mainly maintenance for my 260z - new dampers, brake disks, inlet valve seats.
Anyone got a recommendation for where to get those valve seats done?

I hope to uprated suspension springs too, but I've got to figure why I'm riding high at the back first - not sure if its wrong rear spring or replacement rear arches welded in too high!

well here is mine in the making,i don't like the idear of putting power steeering through a 35 year old manual steering rack at the column end (ducking for cover) remember when replacing parts on production cars power steering models have stronger components

Tel, what car are those track rod ends from, is the taper on the ball joint an exact fit inside the taper on the Z steering knuckles?

Suzy - good to see you back on here again, been busy studying?

Yes it's tough to have to sell the odd car but you have tried to own one of each model ;).

One thing I forgot about my jobs is to fit my battery cut-off switch which I've had for about 2 years

Take a look for yourself its a bit of an optical illusion as the thread on the upgraded joint (the one with the split pin hole) is larger in diameter but the taper is within 3 thou of each other measured along the length af the pin at any 12mm distance
there from a subaru WRX 94ish thats the track rod ends the rack ends are toyota

Keeping my options open at the moment whilst I do some research. Frost.co.uk have some interesting products, including Zinc coating you can do yourself.

I doubt I'll be able to prevent it 100% unless I keep it in a bag of silica gel packs during the winter months, but I can try to delay the rusting as long as possible

-Make an adjustment on rear suspension, sort out knocking at top of struts (which Mr. F pointed to possible cause). Both down for spring work, also next point.
-Get the carbs checked on rolling road, and adjusted if necessary. They feel good, but not quite there, I feel.
-Change battery for a much smaller one, as my air-box won't fit with the current one.
-Change to high torque starter (and maybe alternator, but that can wait, no rush)
-Strut braces
-sort out panel fit, not as good as could be from when I had it painted, already had bonnet and inspection flaps fitted better.

No rush, as does not stop me driving the Z.
