The next batch of exhausts are expected to be with me within the next 10 days.

Priority delivery for those who have pre and part-paid their exhausts.

Future plans from the next batch onwards are for a version 2+2 and for all models ; pre-installed air-flow meter connections in each 'Y'-pipe after the 2-1.

Sean will these be 1 5/8 headers or will you be making some 1 3/4 for the more motorsport orientated Z owner

Mid October....to Poole or Portsmouth - no further; I have a car to deliver....and no, it's not a Datsun.

The next batch of exhausts should be with me before this weekend and I shall be sending out those pre-ordered next week.

Of course, in case of damage, any part of the exhaust is replacable and I will send out any part necessary asap as part of my after-sales service.

To date after 4 years, I've only had one V-band clamp fail and replaced a pair of silencers because the user's local circuit dramatically reduced its dB limit almost overnight.

I remain confident in their high quality and durability.

Hi Sean.

Are you going to do a line in exhausts to suit the much maligned S130? Bit of a poor cousin I know, but Im sure there is a market there :p

Hi Huw.

Ist tricky bit is an exhaust manifold that fits rh and lh drive S130s.

Then ALL models so those with steering boxes and those with rack and pinion.

I think I've cracked that (subject to a fitting confirmation) with my new street-sport manifold.

Next is the line :

Series '79-'81 = to the rear and then across and out
Series '82-'83 = straight out

Then add the 2+2 versions of each so effectively 4x exhausts needed for a minority market.

I can't see it being worthwhile but I'm open to arguments.....like 20x customers minimum mate !

Hi Sean

Not been around for a while to get back to you.

Hey 20 exhausts is still money!

Would it really be 4 different exhausts? Just add an extension piece for the 2+2 and the extra cross bit for the earlier cars can slot on to the rear silencer where a tail pipe would be for the later cars. I've changed my rear valance panel to accommodate the straight through exhaust and the exhaust hanger point is good for both types of exhaust system (early car and later car).

The 280ZX suffers a bit performance wise if there is no back pressure, or correct amount of it, in the exhaust and I've been warned off most aftermarket manifolds because of this. Is your 'Street Manifold' good to use on a 280ZX?

Happy to test one for you mate ;):p

Hi Huw.

I see it thus :

2 seater exhaust
2+2 (a 2 seater exhaust but with an extension (A) as I'm doing for the S30 2+2s which is inline under the transmission tunnel)

Late version exhaust with a 'straight-out' demontable* silencer.
Early version exhaust with an rhside elbow*, extension pipe and then a silencer (B) with another rh elbow and tip.

*Therefore for the early versions, the late silencer would be removed and the elbow fitted passing behind the rear valence (with silencer) and then elbow again to exit the valence.

You perhaps see that an 1x exhaust with some optional pipes, both of which will incorporate a silencer (A+B).

I see that as 4x different exhausts for which all will need a seperate prototype made up and therefore at least two cars :

a late and early version, one of which must be a 2 seater and the other a 2+2.

20x exhausts will probably just about pay for the time and tooling.

I'm still inclined to serve the older S30 market with its 'simpler' design and single extension pipe for the 2+2s.

I'd love to do S130s as I believe that there is a market developping but I need the cars on my ramp over here !

The manifold won't affect back-pressure** but the exhaust might......however, most (are there a lot ?) after-market S130 systems don't appear to have a centre (front and first) silencer which may explain the symptom found.
Mine would have but we'll wait and see** as there are two currently being fitted to 280Zs which share the same injection and air-flow meters.;)

I can't use yours as you have no rhside exit (or do you ?) and I'd still need a 2+2 to calculate the extra length and where to insert it in the line.

Still not you do need four separate systems variants but I can see where you are going.

Any road will be interested to see how you go, as I would love to try one of your manifolds but would really need the rest of the pipe!

And no my car no longer has a right handed exit, didn't see the point in the extra superfluous bit of pipe.

Cheers

Chicken and egg Huw ! I need two cars (late and early - 2 seater and 2+2) merely to make up the prototype.
Then cost it.
Then project potential sales.
Then....it might happen and I repeat, I hope it can but I'll point out that's it's taken 4 years to get where I am and I'm only just beginning to break even.

I take your point re the superfluos extra but are you not an exception ? I wish you weren't because it would simply the task to 'simply' make up a 2+2 extension.....I'd still need two cars though:eek:

I'm coming to the end of the current batch of exhausts and headers/collecteurs/manifolds.
I'm in the process of planning the next batch which will have some improvements because standing still = going backwards !

After having frozen my prices since May this year with a now deflated Euro € which has lost me a % on each sale, there will be a price increase.

The next batch should be available from the end of February and so I'd ask customers to be patient BUT I shall reward that patience :
anyone ordering and paying before the end of this year will receive the new, improved parts at the current prices.

Improvements include :

Lambda plugs pre-installed for gas-flow and tuning measurements full-time or on the rolling-road
Even better, snugger fitting of the headers and exhaust
Some minor issues addressed
An S30 2+2 extension pipe so as not to forget our 2+2s

Don't forget, ordered and paid before end 2015 - delivery during March 2016.

My first system I bought off you through DJ probably 4 years ago??

My current system (being fitted in the next few weeks) I bought off you about 18 months ago

A superbly made system but wondering have there been any changes in that time.....should I expect the same amount of noise?

Bonsoir
Can you give dimensions of primary's, secondary's and collector tubes
(lengths and dia), and how these differ from the commonly available and where and why you think yours improved.
Not trying to critique, just curious

I'm always improving...and as the world wants less noise pollution, so I've tried to follow the trend and also ensure that owners don't get blocked for enjoying their paid-for track-days.

The centre and rear boxes have been increased in size to allow more gas expansion without harming performance and the rear silencer centre bore has been reduced from 3" to the same 2.5" as the exhaust line....less diameter reduces the dBs !
